Top 3 College Basketball Odds, Picks & Predictions: Tuesday (1/7)

The 2024-25 NCAA Men’s College Basketball season continues Tuesday, the first Tuesday of 2005.

We took it on the chin on New Year’s Eve, losing five of six picks for our worst showing of the season. Let’s put that behind us, as it was last year. We’re on to 2025, and it’s time to rebuild that bankroll and steam ahead, as we try to start squirreling away money for March Madness.

Let’s keep that bankroll in the black with our best college basketball picks for Tuesday, January 7th.

Tuesday’s Best College Basketball Picks

Last Week: 1-5 (16.7%, -460) | Season: 20-12 (62.5%, +682) | Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook | All picks are for 1 unit

North Carolina Central Eagles (-170) at Morgan State Bears (+140) | O/U 154.5 (-115/-105)

The NCCU Eagles (7-11, 0-1 MEAC) and Morgan State Bears (6-11, 0-1) square off in the second Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference battle for both teams. Somebody is going to come away with their first conference victory of the season.

The Eagles are coming off a 63-61 loss at Coppin State last time out on Saturday, cashing the Under (140). That halted a 3-0 run to the Over for NCCU. The Over has cashed in nine of 14 games to date, too.

For the Bears, they’ve cashed the Over in seven in a row since Nov. 27, with Morgan State’s defense allowing 86 or more points in three in a row, and five of the past six outings. In fact, Morgan State has one of the worst defensive units in Division I hoops, allowing 82.0 PPG, while teams are hitting 46.8% from the field and 36.3% from behind the 3-point line.

One drawback from Morgan State is that it hits just 69.4% from the free-throw line, leaving a lot of points on the floor. That can sometimes hinder the Over. However, NCCU and Morgan State are a strong play for the Over in our opening matchup.

Picks: Over 154.5 Points (-115)

Kansas State Wildcats (+115) at Oklahoma State Cowboys (-135) | O/U 146.5 (-110/-110)

The Kansas State Wildcats (7-6, 1-1 Big 12) and the Oklahoma State Cowboys (8-5, 0-2) meet at Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater, Okla. The game can be viewed or streamed on ESPN+.

The Wildcats topped Cincinnati 70-67 on Dec. 30 as a 4-point underdog as the Under (139.5) cashed, but they slipped up 63-62 in Fort Worth as a 3-point underdog. K-State is 1-4 SU in the past five outings while going a respectable 5-4 ATS in the past nine outings. The Under has cashed in three in a row, too, with the offense averaging just 65.7 PPG, while allowing just 65.0 PPG in the past two outings.

For the Cowboys, they have really had offensive troubles, going for a total of just 97 points in the past two games. OK State was dropped 60-47 at home on Dec. 30 against Houston, while falling 69-50 at West Virginia. The Cowboys have won twice in the past five games, but they’re 0-5 ATS in the span. The Under has hit in four of the previous five outings.

Kansas State has won three of the past four games in this series, while going 4-2 SU in the past six in the series since Feb. 2, 2022. The Wildcats are on a 5-2 ATS run in the past seven meetings, too.

We’ll go with the Wildcats to get the job done straight up at plus money, and going low is the way to go, too.

Picks: Kansas State Moneyline (+115) & Under 146.5 Points (-110)

Fresno State Bulldogs (+800) at Colorado State Rams (-1400) | O/U 149.5 (-110/-110)

The Fresno State Bulldogs (4-11, 0-4 MWC) and the Colorado State Rams (8-6, 2-1) meet at Moby Arena in Fort Collins, Colo.

The Bulldogs have struggled defensively, allowing 86 or more points in four in a row, while conceding 81 or more points in nine of the previous 10 outings. The Over is on a 4-0 run in the past four contests, while cashing in 10 of 15 games overall.

Fresno State’s offense has struggled, going for 74.1 PPG, and the Bulldogs are an awful shooting team. Fresno is hitting just 40.7% from the field, ranking 342nd in the nation while going for 31.1% from behind the 3-point line. Defensively, though, the Bulldogs are awful, allowing 82.3 PPG to rank 355th in Division I while allowing teams to hit 47.2% from the floor, and 33.9% from the perimeter.

For the Rams, they’ve actually cashed the Under in three in a row, although the offense has posted 66 or more points in five in a row. They should exceed their totals by miles against the very giving Bulldogs defense. While the Under has cashed in three straight meetings, and five of the past six in the series, it’s all about the Over based on Fresno State’s horrific defensive numbers.

Picks: Over 149.5 Points (-110)
