College Football Bowl Games Anytime Touchdown Scorer Picks: Saturday (2023)
The long-awaited bowl season gets underway on Saturday with a little bit of something for everyone, from low-level Power 5 matchups to Group of 5 conference champions. With bowl season comes the laundry list of opt-outs and transfer portal entries, which makes the handicapping of these games an art as much as it is a science. With that being said, throughout the bowl season I will be providing my best bets for anytime TD scorers on a given gameday based on the available players for each team. It should be noted that the plus money lines for these bowl games, including anytime TD scorers, are often suppressed due to their unpredictable nature so please keep that in mind as you place your wagers. To kick things off, here are my best bets for anytime TD scorers on Saturday, December 15.

College Football Bowl Games Anytime Touchdown Scorer Picks
Myrtle Beach Bowl (11:00AM EST) - Ohio vs Georgia Southern
The Eagles led the Sun Belt in passing under QB Davis Brin at just shy of 300 YPG, and Hood was decisively Brin's favorite target. Hood reeled in 94 balls for 917 yards and caught 5 TDs, which was tied for the team lead. They'll be up against a Bobcats team that is undoubtedly disappointed with their failure to make the MAC Championship Game that will also be dealing with several opt-outs on the defensive side of the ball. I find Georgia Southern to be the more motivated team in this matchup, looking to rebound from a poor end to their regular season, and I like for Hood to get in the end zone as Brin's top target at these odds.

Isleta New Mexico Bowl (5:45PM EST) - Fresno State vs New Mexico State
If you're not aware of QB Diego Pavia and the New Mexico State Aggies, he was essentially the Johnny Manziel of the Group of 5 this year. Pavia led the Aggies to a 10-4 record this season and was an absolute warrior, playing banged up in wins at Auburn and against Jacksonville State in games that were meaningless to the Aggies as they had already secured a spot in their conference championship game. Not only was he the Aggies leading passer, he was their leading rusher by over 50 carries and 200 yards, and his 6 rushing TDs led the team. New Mexico State has had no problems scoring all year long and they desperately want this win to get to 11 wins in what should be an extremely pro-Aggies crowd. This is hands down my favorite anytime TD scorer of the day, as Pavia loves to run over people and will do whatever it takes to help his team win this game.

Starco Brands LA Bowl (7:30PM EST) - Boise State vs UCLA
The Broncos enter this bowl game on a high note as Mountain West champions, hiring the player-favorite Spencer Danielson to be their new HC after the midseason firing of former HC Andy Avalos. Despite being potentially the best RB in the nation, Ashton Jeanty announced his intentions to remain at Boise State and participate in this bowl game, which is obviously a huge boost for the Broncos. Jeanty had an injury-hampered season and still managed to run for 1,262 yards on 203 carries (6.2 YPC), netting 14 TDs on the ground. He did significant damage in the passing game as well, catching 39 balls for 552 yards and another 5 TDs. The Bruins will be without their best defender in Laiatu Latu, and their defensive coordinator also just took off to USC. Jenty's price for anytime TD is pretty steep, but I like the odds for him to score 2+ TDs here as one of the best rushers in the nation that also plays a significant role in the passing game against a UCLA defense that will be hampered with losses to both their personnel and coaching staff.

Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl (9:15PM EST) - Texas Tech vs California
The only Power 5 vs Power 5 matchup of the day comes late at night, as the Red Raiders and Golden Bears will face off in Shreveport, LA. Both of these teams have pretty extensive opt-out lists, but Texas Tech trumps all other teams on Saturday with 15 players that will be missing by my count. Because of that, I'm looking toward Cal for the anytime TD scorer in this matchup. Their lead back, Jaydn Ott, had a fantastic season with over 1,200 yards and 13 total TDs, but his odds are north of -300. Instead, I'm looking at their #2 RB Isaiah Ifanse, who had significantly less work than Ott but was every bit as efficient. Ifanse averaged just 0.3 YPC less than Ott and still managed to put up 8 TDs with 172 less touches. Texas Tech had aspirations of a Big 12 title shot at the beginning of the season, while Cal is likely pretty happy with the fact that they qualified for a bowl game. I'll take Ifanse to score a TD here at nearly 2/1 odds as a hyper-efficient 2nd RB on an extremely run-heavy team against a Texas Tech team that's littered with opt-outs and could probably care less about playing a bowl game in Shreveport on Saturday night.
