Top College Football Bowl Games Odds & Picks: Friday
North Texas vs. Texas State
North Texas heads into the First Responder Bowl with a little bit of momentum after securing a regular-season finale win over Temple, but it still has a lot of work to do. UNT failed to over in each of the final five regular-season games, and defense, or lack thereof, is a big culprit for the teamâs struggles down the stretch. The Mean Green wasnât so mean defensively, allowing 37 or more points in five of the final seven outings. The Texas State Bobcats streak in with three wins in the final three games, and it hit 38 or more points in all four outings, cashing the Over in each. Texas State leading RB Ismail Mahdi is in the portal, and committed to Arizona, so that could mean even more passing for TSU. UNT did lose starting QB Chandler Morris to the portal, as he is headed for Virginia, but the offense should still be OK. The scoreboard operator better be busy at Gerald J. Ford Stadium in Dallas, because we could potentially go for 80 points.
Pick: Over 61.5 (-110)

Minnesota vs. Virginia Tech
Virginia Tech is a mess. After finishing the season 6-6, the Hokies performed way worse than expected. After an underwhelming season, the Hokies lost several players to the transfer portal. Five confirmed opt-outs have also occurred, and potentially, more will follow. It's legitimately possible that Virginia Tech will be down double-digit starters heading into this game. Additionally, while Kyron Drones will be back next season at quarterback, he's not healthy enough to play in this game. It'll be Pop Watson at quarterback, who was the No. 3 QB on the depth chart. Meanwhile, it sounds like Minnesota will be mostly at full strength heading into this one. Even if Virginia Tech were at full strength, I'd be backing Minnesota. Now that Virginia Tech will be without most starters give me Minnesota all the way.
Pick: Minnesota -9 (-110)
