College Football National Championship Same Game Parlay Picks: Monday (1/8)

The final two undefeated College Football teams will meet for the ultimate prize of a National Championship.

Washington’s offense has looked great all season, but facing the Michigan defense will be their toughest assignment to date. Michigan finally got over the hump of winning the semi-final, and this could be the most complete team they’ve had. Can they finally finish the story?

Let’s look at our favorite Same-Game Parlay (SGP) for this game.

#2 Washington Huskies vs. #1 Michigan Wolverines

  • Leg 1: Michigan -5 (-110)
  • Leg 2: Michael Penix Jr. Over 293.5 Passing Yards (-125)
  • Leg 3: Blake Corum Over 101.5 Rushing Yards (-125)

Michigan needs to use their exceptional pass rush to get Michael Penix Jr. out of sync. That’s easier said than done, as the Wolverines will try and get through a Huskies’ offensive line that won the Joe Moore Award. They might be in for a tough day. If Penix Jr. has time in the pocket, we saw what he could do against Texas. With future NFL receivers like Rome Odunze and Ja’Lynn Polk, the Michigan secondary will have their work cut out for them.

However, this is a very good Michigan secondary that only allowed 150 passing yards per game. So, if they can’t disrupt the pocket, they could lock down those talented receivers.

The big question for the Huskies is running back Dillon Johnson’s status. He left the game against Texas with an injury and is set to play. Still, how will that injury impact him? If the Wolverines don’t have to stack the box to stop Johnson, then this will allow them to have double coverage on Odunze and take away every part of the field for Penix Jr.

We thought the way to get to Washington was through their pass defense. That seems not to be the case, as during that last drive against Texas, they made some key plays, including that final pass defense to win the game. J.J. McCarthy had been dealing with an ankle sprain towards the end of the regular season. That time off helped him heal because the game against Alabama was the best he’d looked in a while. His passing looked better, but he could also move around in the pocket. He didn’t need to break off to run much in that game, but knowing he can do it now is a huge plus. That will keep Washington humble in coverage. The Huskies were tough against the run, but Blake Corum has been one of the country’s best running backs, and Michigan’s desire to run the ball will continue in this important game.

If there is one team that can handle Washington’s air attack, it’s Michigan. Think about the Wolverines’ biggest test over the last few years. They had to beat Ohio State teams with the likes of C.J. Stroud, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Garrett Wilson, Chris Olave and Marvin Harrison Jr., yet they’ve overcome it every time. This seems to be the year the Wolverines have it all figured out. If this is truly Jim Harbaugh’s last game as Michigan’s head coach, this will be the Hollywood ending.
