College Football Week 1 Anytime Touchdown Scorer Odds & Picks (2023)
Itâs finally arrived! The start of college football! Donât get me wrong, I love week zero in college football, but itâs not the same. Not every team is on the slate, and there are not nearly enough games to bet on. However, that all changes this weekend! Itâs the start of college football, and I canât wait to get started. Last night, I personally cashed a $20 parlay with the Florida vs. Utah game. Tonight, Iâll look to do the same when my Michigan State Spartans play Central Michigan. But weâre not here for my personal bet slips. Weâre here for best anytime touchdown bets.

College Football Week 1 Anytime Touchdown Scorer Bets
East Carolina vs. Michigan
Michigan WR Roman Wilson - Over 0.5 Receiving Touchdowns (+135 on DraftKings)
The chalk plays for this bet are Donovan Edwards or Blake Corum for a rushing touchdown. However, there's no money in that. So, for this play, I'm looking at a player that's got good value and a realistic chance of scoring a touchdown. That player is Michigan wide receiver Roman Wilson. Every single year in Wilson's career at Michigan, he continues to increase his receiving touchdown totals.
Last season against Colorado State in the season opener, Wilson was able to produce the first touchdown of the season, and I could see him doing it again for the Wolverines this weekend. With Ronnie Bell and Luke Schoonmaker off to the NFL, the Wolverines are going to need a receiver to step up. While that could be Cornelius Johnson, I think we see either a big pitch and catch for Wilson or something off play-action down in the red zone to smash this player prop.
Virginia vs. Tennessee
Tennessee WR Ramel Keyton - Over 0.5 Receiving Touchdowns (+140 on DraftKings)
To end the season against Clemson in the Orange Bowl, Ramel Keyon had one of the best games of his career. He showed steady rapport with quarterback Joe Milton, and it led to big gains, including a 46-yard touchdown. Keyton is coming off a career year for the Volunteers with 31 receptions for 562 yards and five touchdowns.
Averaging 18.1 yards per catch a season ago, you'd have to imagine that Keyton is destined for a big play against Virginia in the season opener. With Jalin Hyatt and Cedric Tillman off to the NFL, the Vols need a receiver to step up this season for quarterback Joe Milton. I'd expect the 6-foot-3 and 195-pound senior receiver to be that guy in week one and throughout his final college season.
Utah State vs. Iowa
Iowa RB Kaleb Johnson â Over 0.5 Rushing Touchdowns (-160 on DraftKings)
Thereâs plenty of intrigue when looking at this Iowa Hawkeyes offense. Theyâve got former Michigan quarterback Cade McNamara projected to start for the team. He should provide more consistency under center for the team this season. However, he may not start in the first game due to injury. Regardless, Iâd strongly consider putting their starting running back, Kaleb Johnson, on my bet slip this weekend.
Whether itâs rushing yardage or touchdowns, I think Kaleb Johnson can have a big day against Utah State. Last season for the Hawkeyes, he ran for over 775 yards and had six rushing touchdowns. Even though the Hawkeyes didnât score a ton last season, the production from Johnson is promising. Defensively for Utah State last season, they gave up the 19th most rushing yards per game with 194.2 yards surrendered each game. Meanwhile, they gave up 1.5 rushing touchdowns per game. All of this bodes well for Johnson.
