Saturday, August 31
- Phil Mafah (RB â Clemson) | +105
Despite splitting carries with Will Shipley, Phil Mafah came close to having a 1,000-yard season in 2023. However, he did record 13 rushing touchdowns, and with Shipley now in the NFL, Mafah should get the bulk of the carries for the Tigers. Despite playing a tough Georgia defense, we like him to score at some point during the game.
- Georgia Bulldogs Defense | +340
As dominant as the Bulldogsâ defense was last season, they only scored one touchdown, courtesy of defensive back Kyron Jones. But with as slow and mistake-filled as Clemsonâs starts have been lately, this unit has the talent and athleticism to capitalize on any turnovers Clemson makes with a touchdown.
- Jaydon Blue (RB â Texas) | -300
Texas scored the first touchdown in 10 games last season, but only four were on the ground. However, with CJ Baxter out for the season and Quinn Ewers having to break in a new bunch of skill position players, it would not be shocking to see the Longhorns lean on their veteran running back.
Against a soft opponent like Colorado State, it would not be shocking to see Jaydon Blue score the first touchdown and to score 2+ touchdowns (+180).
- Tetairoa McMillan (WR â ARI) | -170
Wildcats QB Noah Fifita is one of the most exciting young players in college football. He gets to work with one of the best receivers in the game in Tetairoa McMillan. These two combined for seven touchdowns in nine games last season, with at least one in six games. Look for them to hook up early and often against New Mexico.
Heâll score in this game and could certainly score the first touchdown and/or multiple touchdowns.
- Jalen Milroe (QB â Alabama) | -250
Jalen Milroe is at his best when heâs not hesitating to run the ball. New head coach Kalen DeBoer will likely want to establish the passing game. But he will not restrain his quarterback and tell him not to run. He had two rushing touchdowns in the season opener last year, including the first score of the game.
Western Kentucky will essentially be a scrimmage for Alabama. So, donât be shocked if Milroe has multiple touchdowns on the ground (+210) and possibly even the first touchdown of the day.
Sunday, September 1
- Zachariah Branch (WR â USC) | +105
Miller Moss is no Caleb Williams. But he is a capable QB playing in a Lincoln Riley offense against what was a suspect LSU defense last season. Lincoln Riley will not stop airing the ball out. That is why we like Zachariah Branch, USCâs top returning receiver, to get in the end zone at least once, maybe twice (2+ TDs +700).
Monday, September 2
- Thomas Castellanos (QB â Boston College) | +180
Georgia Tech ran for 190 yards and three touchdowns last weekend against Florida State in Ireland. Boston College is a lot like that Georgia Tech squad, a capable passing team and a solid rushing team. Theyâll try to keep the FSU offense off the field by focusing on the run game.
Since Thomas Castellanos led the team with 13 rushing touchdowns last season, we like him to get one against the Seminoles.
