Top College Football Odds & Picks: Week 1
Temple vs. Oklahoma
The Owls have picked up six wins across the past two seasons, and head coach Stan Drayton’s team isn’t expected to take much of a step forward. In fact, it could struggle even more with experienced QB E.J. Warner changing Owl uniforms, transferring to Rice. Temple was trampled for 35.7 PPG last season, and that unit returns just three starters. That’s good and bad. The unit will have new personnel, but there isn’t a ton of experience, and facing Oklahoma in Game No. 1 doesn’t help with confidence. The Sooners kick off a new era, as it is now an SEC team. The Sooners managed 10 victories in their final Big 12 campaign, and the defense returns six starters from a unit which allowed just 5.4 yards per snap in 2023. OU could score early and often with QB Jackson Arnold jelling nicely with WRs Nic Anderson and Deion Burks. Temple isn’t likely to offer very much resistance in this one.
Pick: Oklahoma -42.5 (-105)

TCU vs. Stanford
Last year, neither the Horned Frogs not the Cardinal earned bowl eligibility. Because of that, this may be a game that many bettors are overlooking. While we’d avoid the spread or the total, this matchup does feature one of the best bets of Week 1. TCU quarterback Josh Hoover is taking on 2023’s worst-ranked pass defense. The Cardinal faced quite a few good quarterbacks last season, but that doesn’t excuse allowing nearly 300 yards per game. Hoover topped 300 yards five times in seven starts in 2023. Look for him to light up the weak Cardinal secondary as he tops 300 yards again on Friday.
Pick: Josh Hoover Over 267.5 passing yards (-114)
