Top College Football Odds & Picks: Week 13

Temple vs. UTSA

Temple hits the road for San Antonio to battle the Roadrunner, and it has a new head coach after Stan Drayton was let go despite a victory in overtime last time out against FAU. Everett Withers leads the Owls into battle as the new head man, as Temple looks to finish up strong. Temple has a respectable 5-3 ATS mark in the past eight games, but the offense has really struggled. Temple is averaging just 12.0 PPG in the past two games, and it has 20 or fewer points in five of the past six games, and eight of 10 games overall. For UTSA, the offense has racked up 44 or more points in three in a row, and it is battling for bowl eligility, needing a win in the next two games. The offense for the Roadrunners ranks 10th in the nation with 300.0 passing yards per game, while registering 451.6 total yards per game. Defensively, UTSA has had trouble stopping the pass, although it is hard on the run. It’s unlikely Temple will have the offense to hang with UTSA in this battle down south. Look for UTSA to do most of the heavy lifting to make this one go Over.

Pick: Over 55.5 (-110)

Purdue vs. Michigan State

Michigan State is trying to keep hope alive for a possible bowl game, but it needs to win out in the final two games. It should be able to get the job done against a Boilermakers team which has managed just one victory this season in 10 tries. Purdue has not only lost nine straight games, with its only win against FCS Indiana State back on Aug. 31, but the Boilermakers have scored 10 or fewer points in five of the past seven games including shutout losses to Ohio State and Oregon. The Boilermakers are just 1-8 ATS in the nine-game skid, too. Sparty has dropped the past three games, while also failing to cover, but it has faced the likes of Illinois, Indiana and Michigan, three times which have a better record. The Over has cashed in four straight outings for the Spartans, with the defense allowing 42.5 PPG in the previous two outings. Purdue won’t have nearly that much success, and freshman QB Aidan Chiles and the offense should be able to move the ball well against the Boilermakers.

Pick: Michigan State -13.5 (-110)

UNLV vs. San Jose State

UNLV has had to adjust its goals, as a playoff appearance is no longer in the cards after a home loss to Boise State on Oct. 25. But, the Rebels have rebounded with a pair of wins against Hawaii and San Diego State. The Rebels have failed to cover in the past three games, while going 1-5 ATS in the previous six outings. QB Hajj-Malik Williams has been tremendous since taking over after the Matthew Sluka debacle. The offense isn’t the problem, as it has scored 29 or more points in six of the past seven games. But it is the defense of UNLV that has allowed 20 or more points in six straight outings. The Over is 5-2 in the past seven games. San Jose State also was bitten by Boise State, falling 42-21 last time out, after hanging with Ashton Jeanty and the Broncos for a good chunk of the game. Like UNLV, San Jose State has had trouble covering, going 1-5 ATS in the past six outings. However, the San Jose State has been good at times, with the offense going for 24 or fewer points in five straight outings. The Under has cashed in four of the past five outings, while going 6-3 in the past nine. As such, we’ll avoid playing the total, and focus on San Jose State catching the seven and a hook at home.

Pick: San Jose State +7.5 (-110)
