No. 14 Tennessee at No. 24 NC State

  • Leg 1: Tennessee -10 (-110)
  • Leg 2: Nico Iamaleava 256+ Passing Yards (-115)
  • Leg 3: Tennessee Over 36.5 Points (-110)

Last year was a down season for Tennessee, especially coming off a 2022 where they were one of the top offenses in the country, but the hype returned coming into this year.

Nico Iamaleva, as their quarterback, has much to do with the fans’ optimism about their immediate future. In last year's Cheez-It Citrus Bowl, he had four total touchdowns (one passing and three rushing). He brought that over into this season with 314 passing yards and three touchdowns against Tennessee Chattanooga. That's a fantastic stat line for a game; the thing is, he did that in the first half. The redshirt freshman has a big arm and can lead them even this early in his college career.

This will be a huge test for NC State, which didn't look impressive in their first game. They had what should have been a warmup game; they hosted the FCS program Western Carolina, and although 38-21 looked like a defiant win, it was nothing but. WCU held a 21-17 lead going into the fourth quarter until NC State settled down and grabbed 21 straight points for the win.

Former Coastal Carolina quarterback Grayson McCall was good for 318 yards, three touchdowns, and an interception, but now, here comes the real test. Four years of playing in the Sun Belt has not prepared him for what an SEC defense will bring, and he could be in for a tough game.

Although this game features two ranked opponents, NC State does not look like they will be for long. The young Iamaleva will outplay the veteran McCall and lead the Volunteers to a big win.

South Florida at No. 4 Alabama

  • Leg 1: Alabama -31 (-110)
  • Leg 2: Jalen Milroe 275+ Passing Yards (+100)
  • Leg 3: Alabama 1st Half Team Total Over 27.5 (-120)

How would the Crimson Tide do without Nick Saban on the sidelines for the first time since 2006? Just a 63-0 win over Western Kentucky. We usually see that type of beatdown when a power program takes on an FCS opponent, not a mid-major. Doer is coming off playing in the National Championship, so we knew he was up for the challenge; he had to make sure you did.

We were on Jalen Milroe’s Heisman watch coming into this season, and last Saturday, he made a statement with three touchdowns from the air and two more on the ground. Just think, a year ago, he was getting benched.

Fans of South Florida have to be excited about what Alex Golesh has done with the program. In his first year as head coach, he took a team that was 1-11 and got them to 7-6, the second-best turnaround in the FBS last year.

One of those losses was a 17-3 to Alabama. I mentioned previously that Milroe was benched last year, which happened as a result of a bad performance against Texas. The game he didn't play in was against USF. Bama only had 107 passing yards in that game; it won't go down like that with Milroe behind center.
