Virginia Tech vs. No. 7 Miami (Friday)

  • Leg 1: Miami -17.5 (-108)
  • Leg 2: Cam Ward 3+Passing Touchdowns (-130)
  • Leg 3: Damien Martinez 60+ (-115)

Miami has come out of nowhere and is looking like a primary team early on. They haven't faced great competition, but they have pulverized each of them and have a +40.3 point differential, fifth in the nation.

Miami brought in Washington State transfer Cam Ward, who looks like a top-tier quarterback. He leads the country with 14 touchdowns, only has two interceptions, and his 72.5 completion percentage is ranked third (min.120 pass attempts).

They finally look like they have a complete defense. They were in the top 30 last year against the run and are sixth this season (64.8), but they've been great against the pass by allowing one touchdown and 168 passing yards per game (35th).

That could hold well against the Hokies who have struggled to move the ball in the air. Kyron Drones has not stepped up as a passer and is averaging just 137.6 passing yards over his last three games and has already tied last year's interception total (3). They need to be able to move the ball in both facets to keep up with this high-velocity Miami offense.

No. 2 Georgia vs. No. 4 Alabama

  • Leg 1: Over 49.5 (-112)
  • Leg 2: Carson Beck 247+ Passing Yards (-130)
  • Leg 3: Jam Miller Anytime Rushing Touchdown (+125)

This is the most notable matchup so far this season. Due to the expanded field, it won't necessarily be for a spot in the playoffs, but that doesn't mean either team won’t have plenty to play for.

Georgia struggled two weeks ago and nearly got upset by Kentucky. The Bulldogs had injuries on the defensive line, and as a result, three players upfront played 50 snaps. They should have guys returning, like Mykel Williams, to help keep everyone fresh.

Carson Beck has to be better against this Alabama pass defense, which could be where they are vulnerable. Nine of the listed defensive backs for the Tide are either transfers or true freshmen, so an experienced player like Beck needs to test the secondary.

For Bama, Jalen Milroe has to continue to play his game. He, Jam Miller, and Justice Haynes must grab positive yards on the ground to set up third-and-manageable opportunities. If the Bulldogs force the Tide to get one-dimensional, the offense could come off the field without points.

We mentioned potential weakness in the Alabama secondary, but it helps that this is an incredible defensive line. Georgia RB Trevor Etienne took over the backfield against Kentucky with 19 carries for 79 yards; Alabama has to bottle him up.
