College Football Week 6 Injury Report & Early Predictions: Alabama vs. Texas A&M
Alabama (-24) vs. Texas A&M
Alabama QB Bryce Young was knocked out of Saturdayâs win over Arkansas in the first half with an AC sprain of his non-throwing shoulder. Young spiked his helmet in frustration heading to the injury tent. When he emerged, Young immediately went to the locker room.
HC Nick Saban said after the game that Young is considered âday to dayâ and that the Crimson Tide âthink heâs ok.â Saban emphasized that Young wouldnât be out long-term. I inferred from Sabanâs comments that Young may be back this weekend. Almost assuredly, he will not.
Youngâs injury is basically the same that Texasâ Quinn Ewers suffered earlier in the year â an AC joint sprain to his non-throwing shoulder. Typically, the recovery timeline cited by doctors for this injury is 3-6 weeks. But since itâs a pain threshold injury, the severity of the sprain, the pain tolerance of the player in question, and the playerâs willingness to play with a shot to mitigate pain all play large factors.
With Young ruled out, QB2 Jalen Milroe took over behind center for the Crimson Tide and finished 4-for-9 for 65 yards and a TD passing while rushing for 91 yards and another score. Milroe will remain the starter until Young returns.
In other news, Alabama WR Tyler Harrell missed another game with the foot injury that has plagued him all fall. Harrell has not yet made his Crimson Tide debut because of the injury.
If there was good news for Bama, it was that the Tide finally got back WR JoJo Earle. The Tideâs receiving corps is down, and Saban and crew still havenât really sorted it out. Getting Earle back helps.
Georgia transfer Jermaine Burton has played plenty of snaps but has been a major disappointment. WR JaâCorey Brooks has spent most of the season glued to the bench but randomly went off against Vanderbilit for a 6-117-2 line before returning to milk carton status and going catch-less again against Arkansas.
What is Betting Against the Spread?
Betting âagainst the spreadâ refers to the act of choosing the winning team based on a numeric handicap placed on the team that oddsmakers believe is superior, rather than picking the outright winner. For example, if the Rams face the Bengals, and oddsmakers set the spread at Rams -3.5, you would need Los Angeles to win by 4 or more points in order to cash your Rams bet.
What is an Over/Under Bet?
Over/Under is a wager based on how many points you think will be scored in a specific game. Oddsmakers set the total, and bettors decide whether the final score will be higher or lower than that number. If an Over/Under is set at 44.5 points and you bet Over, you will need the combined score of both teams to be 45 points or higher to win your bet.
What is a Moneyline Bet?
A moneyline bet involves choosing which team you believe will win a specific matchup. The moneyline favorite carries a minus designation, like -130. This means that you need to wager $130 to earn a $100 profit. Conversely, the underdog carries a plus designation, like +110. This means that you win $110 in profit on a $100 bet.
