Georgia Bulldogs vs. Texas Longhorns
Thereâs finally some parity in college football. But wouldnât it be something if Georgia had two losses on its resume before October even concluded?
Itâs a real possibility.
The Texas Longhorns have been the better team in every regard. The Longhorns have scored 43.17 points per game and have limited teams to 6.33 points per game. On the other hand, Georgia has added only 33.50 points per game and has allowed more than 17 points per game.
This is nothing like the Georgia football weâre used to seeing. Ultimately, Georgiaâs pass rush is no longer elite, and the tackle isnât nearly as good as it has been in recent years.
Additionally, Georgia quarterback Carson Beck has already thrown five interceptions in six games and did enough barely to get by Mississippi State 41-31. That game shouldâve never been as close as it was. The Bulldogs have had games where they did themselves in a hole (Alabama) and have had games where they took their foot off the gas (Mississippi State).
Meanwhile, Texas dominated Oklahoma at the Red River Rivalry, 34-3, and took care of business against that same Mississippi State team, 35-13. While Georgia played Alabama on the road, Texas had Michigan on the road and earned a 31-12 win. That game was never close.
Iâll take Texas at home against the spread.
Pick: Texas -3.5 (-110)
Kentucky vs. Florida
The Kentucky Wildcats were just stunned by Vanderbilt, losing a home game, 20-13. The defense did its best to contain Diego Pavia. After all, it gave up just 288 total yards of offense. But that wasnât enough for Kentuckyâs offense, which scored only 13 points.
Part of Kentuckyâs problem was the penalties in that game. The Wildcats had 12 penalties, which cost them 105 yards. That just canât happen at home. The Wildcats have been intriguing this season since South Carolina crushed them, almost escaped Georgia, and defeated Ole Miss, only to lose to Vanderbilt.
You can trust the defense for Kentucky. However, the offense has scored no more than 20 points in all SEC games up to this point.
Meanwhile, Florida could be without Graham Mertz again. He injured his lower leg in last weekâs loss to Tennessee. The Gators had played terrific defense until DJ Lagway came in at quarterback. The freshman made a big error on an interception and wasnât nearly as efficient as Mertz.
Therefore, Iâll grab the Under between Kentucky and Florida.
Pick: Under 42.5 (-110)
