We’ve got a huge Big Ten matchup between Penn State and Ohio State. We’ve also got Tennessee on the road against Alabama, looking to complete a second straight upset against the Crimson Tide.

I’ve got three player props that I’ll be attacking with this slate. Two of those player props are from the critical matchups listed above. Let’s get right to it!

Drew Allar Over 190.5 Passing Yards (-114)

Many people believe Penn State finally has a chance to knock off Ohio State.

I’ll tell you one thing. Penn State didn’t get one of the most highly-touted quarterback prospects in program history to just run the football against Ohio State.

Drew Allar has been very good for Penn State. He’s thrown for just 1,254 yards but added 12 passing touchdowns and no interceptions while holding a QBR of 74.7. The sophomore quarterback has been great at limiting turnovers. He’s also been extremely accurate, earning a 65.2% completion percentage.

Allar has thrown at least 23 times in every game this season. He’s also added at least 189 passing yards in four games this season. In games where Penn State has run away with it, he hasn’t thrown for many yards. However, in closer games, where the offense needs to perform at a higher level, he’s added a much higher amount of yards thrown.

I have a feeling that this game against Ohio State might be a bit closer than his games against UMass, Northwestern, Iowa, Illinois, Delaware and West Virginia. Take Allar to throw for at least 191 yards.

Trey Benson Over 72.5 Rushing Yards (-102)

The status of Riley Leonard is still in the air. Florida State is a 14.5-point favorite against Duke at home because of that. While I think this game is a bit closer, Florida State certainly has the edge if Leonard can’t go.

Duke has allowed only 164.7 yards in the air but has given up 133.8 yards per game on the ground. The Blue Devils are terrific in coverage and have an effective pass rush. But against the run, Duke could be much better.

Therefore, I’ve got Trey Benson earning at least 73 rushing yards. He’s averaged 7.1 yards per attempt on 65 carries this season. He’s had games with under 20 rushing attempts. However, over the last two games, which were both blowouts, Benson has earned 274 rushing yards on 25 attempts.

Benson earned 14 rushing attempts last weekend, which was a season-high. So his carries are also trending in the right direction. Take him to go over.

Jase McClellan Anytime Touchdown (-155)

Jase McClellan has rushed 95 times for 454 yards and three touchdowns for Alabama this season. He’s averaging 4.8 yards per rush. However, he hasn’t scored a touchdown in the last two weeks against Texas A&M and Arkansas.

But here’s a secret. The best way to beat Tennessee is by running the football. The secondary for the Vols is tremendous, and the pass rush is also dominant. I know Alabama’s offensive line will hold up against Tennessee. Still, around the goal line or even in the red zone, Alabama won’t want to force anything with Jalen Milroe, knowing how well the secondary has played. Running the football with McClellan is the most viable option.
