College Football Win Totals: Week 7 (2024)

Both of our Week 6 win total bets are looking increasingly better despite the huge number of upsets that took place this past weekend in college football. Iowa State handled Baylor 43-21 to improve to 5-0, while Clemson is also 4-1 after beating Florida State by 16 points on the road. These teams must finish with at least 10 regular-season wins to cash -115 on Clemson and +108 on Iowa State.

I’ve got two more live win totals to wager in college football futures markets, each worth a one-unit stake, before Week 7 gets underway. Follow me on X at Matt_MacKay_ for more free bets and weekly analysis.

College Football Win Totals: Week 7

          (Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)

Penn State O/U 10.5 Regular Season Wins

Penn State has been relying on its defense and run game to manufacture double-digit wins, despite failing to score 30 points during conference play. QB Drew Allar has benefitted from RB Kaytron Allen and Nicholas Singleton producing against Illinois and UCLA, while the Nittany Lions’ defense has surrendered only 18 points in its last three games played.

In Week 7, Penn State travels to the West Coast to play USC, who just lost outright to Minnesota. USC’s defense is improved from 2023 and its pass-centric offense should give Penn State’s defense its first big challenge in 2024, as the Nittany Lions specialize in stopping the run.

There’s no doubt Ohio State beats Penn State, despite holding a home-field advantage over the Buckeyes, but USC, Washington, and even Minnesota could also result in a second loss for the Nittany Lions during the regular season. Oddsmakers agree with -132 odds on under 10.5 total wins, so let’s take this number before Penn State winds up losing to USC in Week 7.

          Pick:  Under 10.5 Wins (-132)

          Texas A&M O/U 9.5 Regular Season Wins

I was out on Texas A&M after their poor offensive performance against Notre Dame led to a loss in Week 1. However, the return of QB Connor Weigman in Week 6 against Missouri far exceeded expectations, as the Aggies routed Missouri 41-10 right from the opening kickoff.

Head coach Mike Elko has built the trenches nicely on both sides of the line of scrimmage, while the Aggies’ offense is more balanced with Weigman back under center. Their rushing attack is effective between running backs Le’Veon Moss and Amari Daniels, so Texas A&M should get past Mississippi State back from their bye in Week 8, before hosting LSU in Week 9.

Texas is likely a loss during the Aggies’ final regular season game, but its at home. The rest of the schedule has winnable matchups, although a road contest at Auburn may prove difficult. Ultimately, if Texas A&M survives LSU, which I think they have a great chance of doing, then they will cash over 9.5 total regular season wins at plus odds for us, so let’s stake a unit accordingly.

          Pick: Over 9.5 Wins (+108)
