Tuesday’s 2024 Copa America Best Bets

Copa America 2024 odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook | All wagers are for 1 unit

Peru (+220) vs. Canada (+135) – Draw (+210) | O/U Total 2.5 (+142/-174)

Peru played to a scoreless draw in its opening match against Chile, and it did not play terribly well. La Tricolor was on the short end of the possession battle by quite a bit, with Chile posting a 65% to 35% advantage. Peru was able to earn just one corner for the entire match, and it was a hard-hitting battle with 18 fouls apiece.

Canada was on the short end of a 2-0 loss against World Cup champ Argentina, but it was actually a decent showing. Like Peru, Canada had a big possession time disadvantage in the opener, holding it for just 36% of the time. The keeper was busy, as Argentina managed nine shots on target, with seven saves. Canada committed just nine fouls, which tracks, as the Canucks are super nice. Perhaps after the Edmonton Oilers lost Game 7 in the Stanley Cup Finals, Canada will be a little more angry in Game No. 2.

Peru figures to bully Canada a bit, using hard fouls to intimidate, trying to earn a key three points. However, Peru doesn’t seem to have the horses up front to get the job done. In addition, Luis Advincula suffered an Achilles injury in the opener, so the defense could take a hit. Marcos Lopez is likely to draw in.

The best play on the board appears to be going with the Under 2.5 Goals, even though it will cost you more than 1 1/2 times your potential return. Again, Peru and Canada went scoreless last time out. Peru kept a clean sheet, too, while Canada allowed two goals to the defending World Cup champs. In fact, Canada took seven shots in the first half against Argentina, which was the most in the opening half against the World Cup champs since Nov. 2021.

These sides have met just twice before across all competitions, with each side winning a game apiece. It’s unlikely we’ll see that logjam broken, with a draw the likely play in this one. In fact, a 1-1 draw is a likely score in this battle.

Best Bets

  • Peru-Canada Draw (+210)
  • Under 2.5 Total Goals (-174)
  • Correct Score – 1-1 Draw (+500)

Same Game Parlay (+230)

  • Peru-Canada Draw (+210)
  • Under 2.5 Total Goals (-174)

Chile (+650) vs. Argentina (-230) – Draw (+350) | O/U Total 2.5 (-106/-116)

In the nightcap in metropolitan New York City, Argentina looks to keep its foot on the gas after a 2-0 win in the opener against Canada. Chile is alive and well in Group A, but it will be pushing hard for a point after a disappointing scoreless draw against Peru.

The last time these teams met in a meaningful battle, Argentina posted a 2-1 win over Chile in a World Cup Qualifier on Jan. 27, 2022. In the past five meetings, La Albiceleste has come away with two victories, while Chile has fought for three draws in the span. You’ll notice that there is no mention of a Chilean victory.

Emiliano Martinez wasn’t tested much against Canada, being tasked with just two saves for the entire match. The Argentina defense was suffocating against Canada, although the Canucks did shake free for a surprising amount of shots on goal in the first half.

Argentina is a little expensive on the moneyline for a straight-up wager, but it isn’t bad to toss it into a multi-leg parlay, either Same Game Parlay (SGP) or otherwise.

In addition, playing the Correct Score prop is a good idea. Rolling with Argentina 1-0 (+500) and 2-0 (+550) is a solid play. Of course, you’ll lose one of those ends if the score ends up in favor of Argentina either 1-0 or 2-0, but you’ll still be quite ahead. You won’t be able to toss either of those plays into an SGP, however.

And since we’re going with a potential clean sheet for Martinez and La Albiceleste, take a look at the No (-140): Both Teams to Score prop. It sort of goes hand-in-hand with the correct score props above.

Chile has 18 fouls against Peru in the opener, and it will likely try to get super physical with Argentina. However, the defending World Cup champions will not be intimidated, and they’re too talented up front to not win this match. Brazil was stunned in a scoreless draw against Costa Rica in the nightcap last night. Don’t look for a shocker the following night.

Best Bets

  • Argentina 3-Way Moneyline (-230)
  • Under 2.5 Total Goals (-116)
  • Correct Score – Argentina 1-0 (+500)
  • No (-140): Both Teams To Score

Same-Game Parlay (+209)

  • Argentina 3-Way Moneyline (-230)
  • Under 2.5 Total Goals (-116)
