Peru (+290) vs. Chile (+115) â Draw (+200) | Total 2.5 (Over +158/Under -194)
We get our first battle at the AT&T Stadium venue in Arlington. Letâs hope that the recently installed grass field holds up better than the Mercedes Benz Stadium surface in Atlanta, which received plenty of complaints, especially from Argentina. This is the first of three Copa America matches at AT&T Stadium.
Peru has done a decent job leading up to this tournament, picking up three wins and two draws, including a 1-1 draw against Venezuela in the CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifiers. La Bicolor went winless in 2023, so it is on the rise in World Cup qualifying. Manager Jorge Fossati has turned things around for the national team in a hurry.
Peruâs rival, Chile, is ahead of them in the World Cup qualifying table. La Roja is in a transition period right now. Ricardo Gareca heads up the Chilean side, taking the job in January. He has a history with Peru, leading them to a World Cup appearance in 2018. Chile has been solid lately, including a 3-0 rout of Paraguay in its most recent friendly. Chile was edged 3-2 in a spirited friendly against France while taking Albania behind the shed in a 3-0 win before that.
Paolo Guerrero makes his sixth appearance in the Copa America since making his international debut in 2004. He has led Peru to the semi-finals in three of those five appearances. He is 40 years old, but still going strong for the national team, especially a squad devoid of talent on the wing.
Chile holds a 15-7-1 edge in 23 all-time meetings across all competitions. The last time these teams met was in a World Cup qualifier on Oct. 13, 2023, Chile won 2-0. Before that, Peru won 2-0 on Oct. 8, 2021, while Chile won the previous meeting 2-0 on Nov. 13, 2020.
Alexis Sanchez is back for Chile. He is 35 years old and in the twilight of his career after big-money stops with Barcelona, Arsenal and Manchester United overseas. He has managed 51 goals in his national team days, leading all players in Chilean futbol history.
With a neutral venue, the draw is looking attractive at this point. For the chance to double up, rolling the dice on a tie score is a good way to go. Chile and Peru will each be eager to win this game, but a draw isnât the end of the world. Group A features defending World Cup champ Argentina, as well as 49th-ranked Canada. As such, a point here is crucial. Advancing to the knockout stages might be based on goal differential.
For Peru, weâve seen two or fewer goals in four of their past five matches. Chile was involved in three straight matches with a combined three or more goals in three friendlies, but the under cashed in both of the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers against Ecuador and Paraguay.
Since weâre calling for a draw, taking Peru +0.5 goals on the two-way spread is quite attractive, as it isnât priced out of line. The best Same-Game Parlay for this matchup is simply playing the draw and under 2.5 total goals for the chance to more than double up. If thatâs too much risk for you, leave off the under portion and play the draw straight up, which is still (+200).
