Tonight there are a handful of NBA games. If you want to get in on the action quickly, bettors can always bet on the first basket. Betting the first basket is one of the most simple bets in sports betting. Pick the player to score the first basket of the basketball game to win.

Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Los Angeles Clippers  

Getting first possession is a crucial component of first-basket betting. That is an aspect both of these teams have struggled with this season. They both have won the tipoff once this season. The one thing that stands out most during the early game is that the Clippers haven’t scored the first basket this season.

Josh Giddey has scored the first basket for the Thunder in two of the three games. During the one game that he didn’t have the first basket, Giddey scored the second. Giddey is involved early and often. That will continue to be the case tonight. Until the Clippers prove that they can consistently score first in a game, the Thunder have the advantage.

Golden State Warriors vs. Phoenix Suns

Golden State was one of the worst teams last year regarding first-basket scoring. They scored the first basket roughly 40% of the time, and this year hasn’t been any better. The Warriors have scored first once this season. They don’t have the height to win the tipoff, and the Suns have an Atheltic 6’11” center in DeAndre Ayton.

The Suns like to spread the ball around early in the game, but Mikal Bridges has been one of the most active players scoring early for the Suns. He has shot the first two baskets 33% of the time. He is also one of the stronger rebounders in this game, which will give him an opportunity for second-chance buckets. That makes Mikal a high-value play for the first basket in this game.

Washington Wizards vs. Detroit Pistons

The Washington Wizards have been good at getting the first possession. Porzingis athletic enough to win most tipoffs. That will be an advantage against the Pistons because they will use Isaiah Stewart is undersized for a center.

When it comes to the Wizard’s early possessions, they rely heavily on Bradley Beal. Beal has taken the first & second shots 66% of the time. That should be no different tonight against the Pistons. The Pistons have a young backcourt, and Beal will look to test them early. Tonight consistency will be the determining factor in this game.
