French Open 2022: Alexander Zverev Betting Odds, Preview & Prediction
History was made on the Men's side at the Australian Open earlier this season, as Rafael Nadal defeated Daniil Medvedev for his 21st Grand Slam title. That broke a three-way tie that he was previously a part of with Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic, who each have won 20 career Grand Slams.
The second major of the tennis season is the French Open at Roland Garros, which will run from May 22nd to June 5th. The clay surface is difficult for even the best of players to adapt to, as evidenced by the fact that just three of Federer's and Djokovic's combined 40 Grand Slam titles have been won at Roland Garros. Even Pete Sampras, who ranks fourth on the all-time list of Grand Slam champions, never won a French Open title.
This is the first annual BettingPros Guide to the French Open, where we will highlight several of the top contenders from both the Men's and Women's Draws.
Is Rafael Nadal a shoo-in for his 14th French Open title, which would be five more than any other player won at any Grand Slam event? Will we have our ninth different women's champion in the last nine years? Or can Barbora Krejcikova become the first repeat champion since Justine Henin's three-peat from 2005-07?
Read on for our thoughts and predictions for Alexander Zverev in the 2022 French Open.

Alexander Zverev French Open History
Zverev is coming off his best-ever finish at Roland Garros, a five-set loss to eventual runner-up Stefanos Tsitsipas. Zvevev showed grit in that match, forcing a fifth set after dropping the first two. Leading up to that match, Zverev had won his previous four matches in straight sets, cruising to the semifinals after a tougher than anticipated five-set match in the first round against fellow countryman Oscar Otte. Zverev has reached at least the quarterfinals in three of his last four French Open appearances and is 18-6 in his career at Roland Garros.
Alexander Zverev Recent Form
Outside of a questionable loss on the clay at Munich to the world's 70th-ranked player, Holger Rune, Zverev has been consistent with deep runs in events leading up to this Grand Slam. However, similar to his straight-set loss to Rune, Zverev also looked out of form in his straight-set loss to Tsitsipas in Monte Carlo, winning just six games and committing 21 unforced errors.
A year after winning a career-best six titles, Zverev is still looking for his first ATP championship in 2022. Zverev won the Madrid event on clay last year and has five other outdoor clay-court titles dating back to 2017.
Alexander Zverev French Open Predictions
The Pick: Alexander Zverev to Lose Before the Semifinals
Zverev made the semifinals at Roland Garros last year and is 12-4 on clay this season. In addition, he has reached the semifinals at both Rome and Monte Carlo and lost in the finals at Madrid. However, the biggest obstacle standing in Zverevâs path to the semifinals in this Grand Slam is 19-year-old Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz. The young phenom has already won four clay-court titles and became the only player in history to beat Djokovic and Nadal in the same tournament on clay. Thus, Zverevâs best path to the semifinals is for Alcaraz to get upset early, but we do not see that happening.
