Pittsburgh Pirates @ Philadelphia Phillies

Bailey Falter gets the start for the Pittsburgh Pirates and faces his former team. He went 10-14 in under three seasons with the Philadelphia Phillies. The Pirates took a shot on Falter, despite him beginning last season 0-7 through eight appearances (seven starts), and now he gets to prove at Citizens Bank Park why it was wrong for Philadelphia to give up on him so early.

Pittsburgh could not muster much offense in a 5-1 loss in the series opener against the Phillies yesterday, but it has a great shot to pull off the upset in this matchup if Falter can keep pitching to the .125 BAbip and 32.4% hard-hit rate that he has pitched to through 10 innings thus far.
The Pirates are 35-32 SU in their last 67 games and have profited bettors +15.85 units in that span. We are backing Pittsburgh again in a revenge spot for Falter.

Bet: Pirates Moneyline (+142)

Phoenix Suns @ Sacramento Kings

There is a lot at stake over the next two games for the Suns. They are sitting in seventh but could move up and get a guaranteed playoff spot. Phoenix does not want to take a chance and have to play in a double-elimination situation.

The Kings have regressed after last year's amazing breakthrough. They will not win the Pacific but rather participate in the Play-In Tournament. This is still an important game for them; they are currently eighth but have the same record as the Lakers and Warriors. They do not want to fall into the single-elimination part of the Play-In.

While the Suns should grab an important win, five points is a little much for both teams in a must-win situation.

Pick: Kings +5.5 (-110)

Minnesota Wild @ Vegas Golden Knights

Vegas needs a wake-up, as they've lost three straight to keep the Blues alive in the race for the final wild-card spot. Even worse, Vegas has fallen three points behind both Nashville for the first wild card spot and Los Angeles for third place in the Pacific Division.

A matchup against the Wild and goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury could be a strong get-right spot. Fleury is the projected starter Friday night and enters the game ranked 82nd in goals saved above expected. Whether it's Adin Hill or Logan Thompson in-net opposite Fleury, the Golden Knights will have the advantage there.

The advanced metrics don't indicate much difference between these two squads. Vegas has an xGF% of 51.83% over their last 10 games at 5-on-5. Minnesota's xGF% during that same span is 50.07%. However, I will bet on the Golden Knights, who are the superior team with far more motivation and better goaltending. Minnesota has picked up wins against Chicago and Ottawa in their last five but have been dominated by playoff squads like Colorado and Winnipeg during that stretch. This one could be all Vegas.

The Pick: Golden Knights ML (-175)
