NFL Best Bets

Las Vegas Raiders @ Indianapolis Colts

Jonathan Taylor found the end zone in his return from thumb surgery, which caused him to miss the prior three weeks. Aside from the TD, Taylor was not very productive on the ground. He ran 18 times for 43 yards, but the usage was the encouraging part for the rest of the season. The Colts remain in the playoff hunt and will likely lean on Taylor for the remaining two weeks. Taylor has four TDs in his last three healthy games.

The Raiders pulled off a surprise win in Kansas City on Christmas, but the defense did allow RB Isiah Pacheco to run for a TD. The Raiders rank 21st in TDs allowed to opposing RBs.

Bet: Jonathan Taylor Anytime TD Scorer (-135)

Memphis Grizzlies @ Denver Nuggets

Aaron Gordon is unavailable to play tonight, which sets up a few Denver players to add to their stats in this game. Michael Porter Jr. will likely be one of the big benefactors without him around. In four games without Gordon this season, “MPJ” has averaged 20.5 points, 9.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. This is obviously a small sample, but it can’t be overlooked either. He has gone over this points prop and rebounds prop in three of the four games.

As for Nikola Jokic, this line is simply far too low for what he typically does playing at home in Denver. Last season, he averaged 11.1 assists per game at home compared to 8.5 on the road. While that number has decreased at home in the early going this year to 9.4 APG, Jokic has gone over this mark in 10 of 14 games in Denver. He had 10 and 13 assists in two matchups against Memphis last season.

Ohio State vs. Missouri (Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic)

The Missouri side is really the only side you can look at for an anytime touchdown scorer prop at the moment because there’s so much in flux on the Ohio State sideline as to who will and who will not be active for this game. Missouri, however, will pretty much be rolling out their season-long starters, and head coach Eli Drinkwitz has made it very clear that he and his team want this win badly. That said, I’m looking at Luther Burden III as the best wide receiver on the field to score a touchdown in this game, which might surprise the more casual fans to learn that he resides on the Tigers sideline.

Burden caught 83 balls this season for just shy of 1,200 yards and eight receiving touchdowns. He was by far and away the favorite target of Missouri quarterback Brady Cook. Yes, the OSU defense proved to be one of the best in the nation every week, but they will likely be working with a skeleton crew on the defensive side of the ball due to opt-outs and transfers. That could lead to miscommunication and broken coverages with inexperienced players in the secondary, and I think getting Burden III to score a TD at plus money is an insane price.

Bet: Luther Burden III Anytime TD Scorer (+125)
