Georgia vs. TCU: 2023 College Football Playoff National Championship Game Prop Bets Picks

In what has been a tremendous 2022-23 college football bowl season and it all comes down to this. Unranked coming into the season, the TCU Horned Frogs needed every week of the regular season to sneak into the top four, making the most of it with a semi-final win over Michigan last week.

But can Georgia end their cinderella run and make it two-straight National Championships in the process? Let’s take a closer look.

2023 College Football Playoff National Championship Game Prop Bets Picks & Predictions

(#3) TCU Horned Frogs vs. (#2) Georgia Bulldogs

TCU: Team Total Points – Over 24.5 (-110)

Sonny Dykes’ accomplishments in Year One must be taken into consideration for the best single-season coaching job in the history of the sport, even if TCU doesn’t win the National Championship on Monday. Since 2017, TCU had not finished the regular season with more than six victories, and the last four seasons have seen the Horned Frogs’ program struggle especially hard.

If TCU wants to pull off the upset, its offense needs to have one of its best performances of the season, and that starts with quarterback Max Duggan.  Duggan’s performance against Michigan in the semifinals was not among his best, with a completion percentage under 50% and two interceptions.

Even still, behind one of the best offensive lines in the country, look for a bounce-back game from one of the best QBs all season long.

Alternate Total – Under 58.5 (+140)

Duggan will undoubtedly be asked to perform extra duties, particularly if running back Kendre Miller is unable to go which things are trending towards. If Miller is unable to play, Emari Demercado would be the preferred replacement. To make Georgia account for Duggan on every snap, TCU will probably run him more often than usual, leading to a lot of running clock.

Enter Georgia’s defense.

Jalen Carter, a defensive lineman for Georgia, is one of those studs, likely to play a big part in looking to shut down any chance of a rushing-focused game for TCU.

With Georgia likely to respond with its own rushing attack, look for a lower-scoring game than expected.

Half Time / Full Time – TCU/Georgia (-120)

TCU ought to be able to move the ball against the Bulldogs if they can, all game long, mix explosive throwing passes with a brisk offense. What I think is most likely, which I especially like at this price, is a fast start from TCU to catch Georgia off guard.

I do think, however, there is a major coaching mismatch when it comes to adjustments, and the Dawgs will adjust at the half, before winning the game outright.
