How to Bet UFC Method & Round Combos at a Sportsbook

For all intents and purposes, UFC has officially arrived in the mainstream. With a pay-per-view or ESPN+ fight on the calendar nearly every week of the year, more eyeballs than ever are on the UFC, and sportsbooks have responded accordingly.

In addition to the traditional moneyline market, there are plenty of UFC prop bet markets to choose from, one being the UFC method and round combos. Let’s take a closer look at what’s involved and some strategies for getting in on the action.

What is a UFC Method and Round Combos Bet?

The UFC Method and Round Combos bet combines two UFC prop bet markets, with the chance for high payouts for those fortunate enough to cash. First, the bettor must pick which fighter will win the fight. Next, the bettor must choose the correct method of victory in the fights, with the options being KO/TKO, submission, and decision. Finally, the bettor must also pick which round the fight will end.

For example, let’s consider the upcoming featherweight title fight between Alexander Volkanovski and Max Holloway. If a bettor were to pick Volkanovski via submission in the first round, and Volkanovski secures a first-round submission, the bettor would win their bet. Any other outcome and the bettor loses their bet.

As you would expect, this correct prediction has much higher payouts than the standard moneyline or total rounds bets, with payouts as high as +3000 for calling the exact outcome.

Strategy for Making UFC Method and Round Combos Bets

While fight history, specifically looking at a fighter’s propensity to end a fight in the first round (most common), is the easiest way to make a UFC method and round combo bet, fight metrics also should be considered.

For example, fighters in the upper percentiles for significant strikes landed per 15 minutes and significant strikes accuracy are more likely to end the fight via KO/TKO, taking care of the method part of the bet. As for submissions, fighters who excel in average takedowns per 15 minutes, takedown accuracy, and submission average per 15 minutes, especially when against a fighter who struggles on the ground, are more likely to end the fight by way of submission.

Regardless of how much research and prep you do for UFC method and round combo bets, they often are more luck than anything else, similar to betting an exacta in horse racing single game parlay in NBA basketball.
