Kenny Pickett NFL Draft Odds: Who Will Draft the Pitt QB? (2022 NFL Draft)

It's officially NFL Draft Week, and the rumors and leaks are already starting to trickle out. This draft class doesn't have the star power that we have seen in previous years, especially when it comes to the quarterback position. For those reasons, there hasn't been a clear consensus on who the top overall pick will be or much chatter about teams looking to trade up in the draft. Earlier this week, Travon Walker overtook Aidin Hutchinson as the favorite to go No. 1 overall to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Our analysts have been studying these prospects and their potential fits with NFL teams over the last several months, and they've written tens of thousands of words and created over a dozen mock drafts while evaluating the different ways they see the 2022 NFL Draft playing out.

So, where is Pitt QB Kenny Pickett likely to end up when the dust settles after the 2022 NFL Draft? Let's take a look at the current odds and some analysis from our experts.

Our consensus mock draft has the Steelers aiming for a quarterback in the first round. The consensus thinks Pickett (37%) will be the choice.

Our analysts agree with the approach, but not the pick. They each have a different signal-caller falling to Pittsburgh at No. 20 overall with Pickett landing elsewhere.

In a mock draft a couple of weeks ago, Matthew Freedman agreed that the Carolina Panthers, currently the favorite to draft Pickett, would indeed select him at No. 6 overall:

6. Carolina Panthers

The Panthers are stuck with Sam Darnold's fifth-year option, but they still need a quarterback of the future after failing to acquire Deshaun Watson this offseason.

They could still add a veteran via trade (maybe Jimmy Garoppolo or Baker Mayfield?), but for now, I'm assigning them a quarterback.

I prefer Malik Willis, but the Panthers might favor Pickett, whom head coach Matt Rhule aggressively pursued at Temple as a high school recruit.

However, Freedman changed course in his final mock draft and ultimately projected Pickett to land with the Tennessee Titans at No. 26:

The buzz is building that the Titans are a real candidate to take a quarterback on Day 1, and Pickett could easily fall down the draft board if the Panthers don't take him at No. 6.

Despite his childlike hands ...

... Pickett is likely to go in Round 1, and he might be the most NFL-ready quarterback in this draft class.

In his final mock draft, Andrew Erickson has Pickett falling all the way to the Detroit Lions at No. 32:

32. Detroit Lions 

Jared Goff will still be in the plans for the Lions in 2022 with a $15.5 million roster guarantee this season. It seems most likely he will be the opening day starter while the team grooms a rookie franchise quarterback behind him.

Goff has a potential out in his contract before the 2023 season. Detroit also desperately NEEDS a quarterback competition to stir up drama for HBO's Hard Knocks.

With the fifth-year rookie quarterback option in mind, the Lions select Kenny Pickett - and his small hands - with the 32nd overall pick.

Pickett finished third in PFF passing grade from a clean pocket (94.3) and first in his class in adjusted completion percentage (79%) during his 2021 breakout season.

The consensus Over/Under for Kenny Pickett is 12.5, but DraftKings Sportsbook has the number at 16.5 while others have it at 14.5 or 15.5. Based on the projected landing spots above, out analysts are predicting the over to hit unless the Panthers take Pickett early.
