Kings vs. Oilers: NHL Playoffs Same Game Parlay Picks (4/22)
The Los Angeles Kings and Edmonton Oilers are the final playoff series to get underway in these 2024 NHL Stanley Cup playoffs. Game 1 of the series can be viewed or streamed on ESPN2, and the puck drop is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET in this Western Conference battle.
The Oilers are installed as a heavy favorite (-192) to win the series, with the Kings as moderate underdogs (+158). For Game 1, Edmonton is listed as a rather moderate favorite (-164), with the Kings (+136) as the underdog with a total of 5.5 (O: -122 | U: +100).
These teams met four times during the regular season, with Edmonton winning three of the four meetings. The Oilers edged the Kings 11-9 in the four games, with the Under cashing in each of the meetings. The favorite and underdog split 2-2 in the four contests.
These teams met in the postseason in 2023, with the Oilers winning in six games, including a 4-3 overtime victory at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on April 17 as a moderate underdog (+194) as the Over (6.5) cashed.

Leg 1: Warren Foegele Over 3+ Shots on Goal – 60 Minutes (+120)
Everybody knows about the Oilers’ big stars Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid, but often overlooked are some of the smaller stars. Warren Foegele, who came over from the Carolina Hurricanes before the 2021-22 season, had an amazing regular season. He notched career highs with 20 goals, 21 assists, and 41 points in the 82-game regular season.
Foegele notched three or more shots on goal in each of his final five regular-season games, scoring three goals with an assist and plus-2 rating. He totaled 27 SOG in the five-game span. Foegele managed just three total SOG in four regular-season meetings with Los Angeles, though, so that’s likely why the books have set this target SOG total so low. The SOG target is for regulation only, or the first 60 minutes, so it won’t count any shots past regulation.
Leg 2: Kevin Fiala Anytime Goal Scorer (+210)
While I’m expecting the Oilers to scratch out a victory in Game 1 against the Kings, Fiala is a good value for the chance to more than double up if he can light the lamp. Fiala notched five goals in the final nine games of the regular season. He has strong value even though he was blanked in the final three meetings of the regular season against Edmonton.
Fiala missed the first three games of last season’s playoff series, but he responded with a goal and six points in the final three games, including a goal and an assist on the man advantage.
Leg 3: Over 5.5 Total Goals (-122)
Lastly, look for at least six total goals in Game 1 in Edmonton. While we’re going against the regular season series trends, where the Under went 4-0, these teams are both explosive and capable of a high-scoring series. We saw the Over hit in four of the six playoff games in 2023, including a total of exactly nine goals in each of the final three meetings.
The Under cashed in seven of the final nine road regular-season games for the Kings, and the Under hit at a 6-3-1 clip in the final 10 games for the Oilers. It’s a gut feeling, but we’re staying high in Game 1, going against a lot of the trends.
In summary, it’s a big number in the opening game of Kings vs. Oilers, and obviously, you need to win all three legs to cash. We need Foegele to notch at least three shots on goal in regulation, while Fiala must light the lamp at any time. Lastly, we’ll need a combined total of at least six goals. If all of those things happen, we’ll be able to multiply our initial wager by more than 7 1/2 times. That’s an attractive SGP play at FanDuel. Good luck!
