Wright and Zylstra each have four receiving touchdowns this season, the second-most on the team. The tight-end duo has scored the first Detroit touchdown in three straight contests. Furthermore, a tight end has scored the opening touchdown for the Lions in 37.5% of the games this season. In the Week 9 matchup, Zylstra had the first Detroit touchdown between these two teams. More importantly, both touchdowns by the Lions in that game came from a tight despite the unit having only three receptions in the contest. Meanwhile, the Packers have surrendered seven receiving touchdowns to tight ends this year, the 10th-most in the NFL. At these long odds, bettors should place a small bet on both tight ends.
Green Bay Packers First TD Scorer: Robert Tonyan (TE): (+1000)
A tight end has scored the first Green Bay touchdown in two straight weeks. In the Week 9 matchup between these two teams, the Packers tight end unit had nine receptions on 10 targets. Meanwhile, Detroit has been awful at slowing down tight ends this season. They have surrendered 11 receiving touchdowns to the position this year, the most in the NFL. Furthermore, the first touchdown scored against the Lions has been by a tight end in three of the past five contests. Tonyan had the first offensive score and the only receiving touchdown last week against the Miami Dolphins. Don’t be surprised if he has a repeat performance Sunday night.
