With the legalization of sports betting in more states than ever this year, there is no shortage of ways to get in on the Mastersâ action, that is. From picking an outright winner to making/missing a cut, the options (and value) are endless for those willing to dig deep enough.
Letâs look at two bets in the head-to-head category I have my eye on.

Patrick Cantlay (-155 on DraftKings Sportsbook) vs. Russell Henley
Coming into this week #2 on Tour in birdie average (5.9) and #8 in total scoring average (69.95), Cantlay has a chance to do something special this week. One year removed from earning the 2020-21 PGA Tour Player of the Year, Cantlay comes into his first major of the season with less pressure than his torrid pace provided last season when he missed the cut at Augusta.
Before that missed cut, Cantlay had finishes of T17 and T9 at Augusta in the two years prior. In the 2019 event, Cantlay shot a weekend low 64 to finish -10 (T9) on the week.
On the other side of this matchup, Henley comes to Augusta for the first time since 2018 and mixed back in 2021-22. As of today, Henley ranks #106 on Tour in Driving Distance (297.6) and 101st in Total Putting (221.9). I like for Cantlay to continue his hot start to the season, which includes four top 10s in seven starts, and edge out Henley this week.
Sam Burns (-160 on DraftKings Sportsbook) vs. Bryson DeChambeau
Despite it being his first start here at Augusta and going against a juggernaut in DeChambeau, Burns winning this one is one of my favorite plays of the tournament. By his own account, DeChambeau has been advised by multiple doctors to sit this event out as he battles numerous injuries, including his labrum (hip) and hamate bone (hand). When he tried to tee it up for the first time in months over the past two weeks, it resulted in a T58 at the WGC-Dell Match Play Event event and a missed cut last week at the Valero.
Burns, on the other hand, has been all aces. Ascending to #10 in the world, Burns has three wins over the past 11 months and has turned into one of the worldâs best golfers. Despite the heavy juice and golfing his first round at Augusta, Iâm laying on a player in Burns I think has the stuff to finish top 10 this week.
