Mercer Bears vs. Alabama Crimson Tide Odds & Game Pick (2021)

Alabama looked like the best team in college football in Week 1. Their defense was brilliant, and they had the offense to match. Bryce Young looks like he can run Bill O'Brien's offense. Nick Saban has to be very happy with the young quarterback. Alabama also has weapons on offense that lost all of their star players. The defense is stacked, and running back is another future NFL draft pick. Alabama is Alabama.

Mercer looked great playing Point University. Winning, 69-0 in Week 1. Point University is an NAIA school. Point University is not just an NAIA team but has not had a winning record in years. Last year they went 0-4, and the year before that, 1-7. Alabama and Mercer have played once ever, and we should see the same result as last time.

Overview

Bryce Young looked like a Heisman frontrunner with the way he played against Miami. Throwing, 344 yards, and 4 TDs. Jameson Williams and John Metchie looked to be the next top receivers in the Alabama offense. Multiple running backs shared the load while the crowded backfield looked to see who will replace Najee Harris as the next NFL Draft pick. Bill O'Brien's offense will continue to score points.  This team is firing on all cylinders.

The defense looked to be a dominant force, holding Miami to 13 points. Forcing D'Eriq King to throw two interceptions and fumbled once. We will see this team continue to terrorize throughout the season. Holding Miami to 86 rushing yards on 31 attempts, teams will struggle to run and throw against Alabama. Mercer is going to have a hard time moving the ball at all against this stout Alabama defense. Mercer will be lucky to score against Alabama in this matchup. The question is, how many points will Alabama score.

Mercer looked great last week. Winning, 69-0 against Point University. Unfortunately, the win against a sub-par NAIA school will not help them against one of the best dynasties in college football. Mercer is going to struggle to score and stop this Alabama team. With Bryce Young leading the helm. Two great wide receivers. A whole stall of running backs, this Alabama team will get to decide how many times they will score on this Mercer team.

Bottom

This game is going to come down to Alabama and how many points they want to score. Starters will not play the entire game. Alabama's backups will get plenty of opportunities to score and show off why they never rebuild and only reload. There is a great chance this game is a shutout. Last time Alabama won 56-0, and the score is going to be similar this weekend. The only limit on Alabama scoring is going to be how much they want to score. Expect Alabama to be Alabama and win with 50+ points and give up 0.

Pick: Alabama -56.5
