Texas Rangers at Minnesota Twins

The Texas Rangers ended a long and gruesome 8-game losing streak last night. It’s time for a new streak.

Texas will pitch Jordan Montgomery for today’s game. The lefty has held teams to a .113 ISO and wOBA of .285 over the last month. He’s also struck out 23.2% of batters while keeping walks down to 5.6%.

Montgomery has done very well earning ground balls and has kept fly balls below 24%. He’ll face a Twins lineup with four batters striking out at least 23.1% of the time against lefties over the last month.

Meanwhile, Bailey Ober will get the call for the Twins. He’s looked much worse than Montgomery over the last 30 days. Ober has allowed a .235 ISO and wOBA of .411 to his previous 113 batters. He’s only thrown about 90 pitches per start and has induced 36.4% of ground balls while allowing 35.1% of fly balls in the last 30 days.

The Rangers have hit a .191 ISO against righties in the last 30 days, led by Corey Seager, who has slugged a .438 ISO and wOBA of .512 against his last 54 righties. Even Mitch Garver has hit a .333 ISO, while Marcus Semien has slugged a .264 ISO.

Texas has a lot of power potential in today’s ball game. They’ll also face a starter that hasn’t looked good over the last month. Let’s take the Rangers here.

Bet: Rangers Moneyline (-110)

Oakland Athletics at Chicago White Sox

The Oakland Athletics will pitch Paul Blackburn today. The right-hander has earned 25% of strikeouts in the last 30 days while holding his previous 124 batters to a .116 ISO and wOBA of .301.

Blackburn is the one bright spot on the Athletics regarding pitching. He’s induced nearly 45% of ground balls and has kept fly balls to 25.3% in the last 30 days.

The right-hander will face a White Sox team that has hit a .149 ISO and wOBA of .301 against righties in the last 30 days. Chicago has a lineup with six batters hitting an ISO of .136 or worse and a lineup with six batters hitting a wOBA of .302 or worse.

On the other hand, Mike Clevinger will take the mound for the White Sox. He’s a righty who has allowed a .101 ISO and wOBA of .287 against his last 112 batters. Clevinger has kept his walks down and has held teams to a 23.4% line drive percentage in the previous 30 days.

He’ll face an Oakland Athletics offense that has improved over time. However, this team still has five batters hitting an ISO of no better than .148 against righties in the last month. Clevinger won’t get caught giving up multiple extra-base hits every inning.

Let’s take the Under in this game.

Bet: Under 8.5 Runs (-102)
