MLB Best Bets, Odds, Picks & Predictions: Tuesday (6/20)
The weather is getting warmer, and we're fully into the MLB season. Let's look at interesting matchups for tonight.
Today's MLB Best Bets
Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook
Seattle Mariners (+116) at New York Yankees (-134) | O/U 7 (-110/-110)
The Yankees will try to regroup after getting swept in Boston against the last-place Red Sox. The large problem lately is that the offense cannot thrive without Aaron Judge, and they are batting .195 with a .599 OPS since he went on the IL. They'll have the consistent Gerrit Cole on the mound, and he already has ten quality starts this year, including three straight.
The Mariners have underachieved this season after coming off their first playoff appearance in over two decades. They're 7-10 in their last 17 games, which includes dropping two of three against the Yankees in Seattle. That one win was with George Kirby on the mound as he went a strong eight scoreless in that start.
This has the potential to be a great pitching matchup, and it's tough to trust either lineup at this time. Grab the under.
Pick: Under 7 (-110)
New York Mets (+118) at Houston Astros (-138) | O/U 7.5 (+100/-122)
We've got a revenge game alert! Justin Verlander will make his way into Houston for the first time since leaving the team this past offseason. He did not bring that MVP-caliber pitching to Queens, and he's 2-3 with a 4.40 ERA this year.
The Astros are missing their top bat as Yordan Alvarez is sidelined, and the team is struggling. They are 3-7 without Alvarez in the lineup and are batting .237. Framber Valdez's numbers are excellent, with a 2.27 ERA and 2.84 FIP, but he's gotten very little run support, with Houston scoring three or fewer runs in eight of his 14 starts.
With the vulnerable Astros lineup thatâs already been underachieving this season, we will see vintage Verlander get the win in homecoming.
Pick: Mets Moneyline (+118)
Chicago Cubs (-126) at Pittsburgh Pirates (+108) | O/U 8 (-105/-115)
The Pirates are plummeting fast, losing seven straight and ten of their last 12. This includes recently being swept by the Cubs, where they were outscored in that series 28-11. Jose Ovideo took the loss in one of those games and went four innings, allowing four earned.
That sweep has propelled Chicago, and they are coming off winning a series against Baltimore and have victories in six of their last seven. Stroman was Ovideo's opposition in that matchup and went six innings allowing just two earned runs.
I like trends to continue, and the Cubs ride to another win.
Pick: Cubs Moneyline (-126)
