MLB Best Bets, Odds, Picks & Predictions: Tuesday (6/27)

Summer is officially here, and the MLB landscape is heating up. Let’s look at interesting matchups for tonight.

Tuesday’s Best MLB Bets

(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)

Chicago White Sox (+172) at Los Angeles Angels (-205) | O/U 8 (-115/-105)

The Angels ended the first game in walk-off fashion, with Mike Trout scoring on a wild pitch. It was Shohei Ohtani who got the Halos on the board with his eighth home run in his last 13 games. Tonight he’ll be on the mound, and with him leading in several statistics both as a pitcher and hitter, there’s a reason why he’s a big favorite for the AL MVP.

The White Sox wasted a stellar performance from Dylan Cease, and with how this pitching has been all year, they don’t get too many of those. Michael Kopech is another example of a starter having a down year with a 4.06 ERA, but he’s been better in June at 2.66.

While it’s hard to go against the Angels when Ohtani is on the bump, the more confident bet here is another low-scoring game.

Pick: Under 8 (-105)

Miami Marlins (-104) at Boston Red Sox (-112) | O/U 9.5 (-106/-114)

It has been a remarkable June for the Marlins, going 16-7, and they have made themselves into a legitimate playoff contender. They have been able to get efficient pitching and great hitting, especially from Luis Arraez, who’s nearly batting .400. It’s been a disastrous season for reigning NL Cy Young winner Sandy Alcantara. Still, June has been slightly better, and it’s the only month where he hasn’t allowed more than three earned in multiple starts.

The Red Sox had a nice run a couple of weeks ago, winning six straight, but they’re now coming in losing four of their last five. Whitlock has been much better after a rough April and an IL stint with a 3.60 ERA and teams 4-1 since his return.

I expect the Red Sox bats to be all over Alcantara as they pick up the win.

Pick: Red Sox Moneyline (-112)

Cincinnati Reds (+120) at Baltimore Orioles (-142) | O/U 8.5 (-114/-106)

After a 12-game winning streak, the Reds have hit a three-game skid. Still, they are in contention for the first time in a while, and young stars like Elly De La Cruz and Matt McLain are giving this team hope for the future. Another young upcoming star Andrew Abbott will be on the mound. Not only has he won his first three starts, but he went 5+ shutout inning in each.

Another former mediocre team on the rise this year has been the Orioles. This team has done it all season thanks to their power bats, and they are currently top nine in slugging and home run ratio. Baltimore’s pitching hasn’t been great, but Tyler Wells is thriving. He’s having a breakout season with a 3.22 ERA and 0.89 WHIP.

While Abbott has been good, this will be the best lineup he’s seen. Wells’s overall numbers look good, but some concerning metrics include his 39.4 hard-hit percentage and .428 xSLG. We’ve seen the over in the first game, and I expect it again.

Pick: Over 8.5 (-114)
