Tuesday’s Best MLB Bets

(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)

New York Yankees (+184) at Atlanta Braves (-172) | O/U 10.5 (-110/-110)

You cannot sugarcoat this; Luis Severino has been terrible this year. Already missing the start of the season due to injury, he has struggled with his location throughout the season, and his pitches break through the strike zone. This hasn’t been hitters learning him after multiple at-bats. He’s been getting crushed early with a 13.85 ERA in the first inning.

The Braves have developed a nice rotation, and rookie Bryce Elder is part of it. However, he’s been struggling in the second half of the season with a 5.37 ERA and 5.20 FIP in his last 12 starts. Atlanta is 7-5 in those starts, thanks to more than five runs of support per start this season. Due to injuries, the Yankees do not have the firepower, and Sevy can’t shut anyone down.

Pick: Braves -1.5 (-114)

Los Angeles Angels (+152) at Texas Rangers (-180) | O/U 8.5 (-122/+100)

Jordan Montgomery has been a great pitcher throughout the season, making him a hot commodity at the trade deadline. The Rangers bolstered what was already a stellar rotation by adding Monty, and he’s come through allowing four earned and 11 strikeouts in 12 innings.

The Angels also are going for it by making accusations, one of those being Lucas Giolito. He’s had a few good starts, but one was dreadful, allowing nine earned against Atlanta. Giolito does have some history against this Texas lineup, and in 117 at-bats, they’re collectively hitting .196 with a 32.5% strikeout rate.

Last night’s game saw a burst of offense from the Rangers, but they’ll be tame, facing a pitcher they’ve struggled against.

Pick: Under 8.5 (+100)

Seattle Mariners (+152) at Kansas City Royals (+134) | O/U 9 (-122/+100)

Journeyman Jordan Lyles is having a dreadful season,  allowing a league-leading 86 earned runs. The Royals are 3-19 when he’s on the mound. Although he’s won two of his last three starts, they have not been excellent performances with a 5.79 ERA.

Emerson Hancock had a great MLB debut, going five innings and allowing one earned on two hits. One problem he’s had throughout his career in the Minors was his control, allowing over three walks per nine. He allowed that in his debut start in the Majors.

The Royals are last in walk rate and 26th in chase rate, so Hancock should keep those walks down and get the Mariners the win.

Pick: Mariners -1.5 (+106)
