MLB Best Bets, Odds, Picks & Predictions: Tuesday (9/26)

We are in the last week of the season, and there are still playoff spots up for grabs. Let’s look at some of the most important matchups going on tonight.

Tuesday's Best MLB Bets

(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)

Chicago Cubs (+124) at Atlanta Braves (-145) | O/U 9 (-120/+100)

It has been a breakout season for Justin Steele. He's coming in third in the league behind only Spencer Strider and Zac Gallen in wins (16), thanks to that improvement of the slider, which makes his fastball more difficult for the batter to read. It's unfortunately been a tough month for Steele as he's lost his last two starts, allowing six earned in each.

Bryce Elder had been a great piece in the rotation for part of the season, but it has regressed recently. He was tremendous in his first 16 starts, going 6-1 with a 2.44 ERA, but in his last 14 starts, he has a 5.14 ERA. Luckily, he's backed by the best offense in the league, and the Braves are 8-6 in those starts.

The Cubs were one of those bad outings, scoring seven runs off Elder. Chicago is in a spot where they need to win, and they should get one here.

Pick: Cubs Moneyline (+124)

Washington Nationals (+195) at Baltimore Orioles (-238) | O/U 8 (-110/-110)

Kyle Bradish is having an incredible sophomore season for the Orioles. The main reason for this improvement is better control of his pitches, especially the slider, where he's getting a 37.3% whiff rate. He's been one of the better pitchers in the league in the second half with a 2.38 ERA, and batters are hitting .194 in the last 17 starts.

Josiah Gray has trended in the opposite direction. Struggling his first two seasons, he pitched well to start 2023, even earning an All-Star spot. He had already had some bad starts at that point; he had a 3.00 ERA in his first 13 starts but has a 4.89 ERA in his last 16.

Winning the division for Baltimore is extremely important because it's the difference between having to play in the first round or not. This is a game the Orioles have to take.

Pick: Orioles -1.5 (-112)

New York Yankees (+136) at Toronto Blue Jays (-162) | O/U 7 (-118/-102)

As the Yankees wind down their season, they're looking at some guys, and Michael King is someone to pay attention to. He has spent most of his tenure with the Yanks in the bullpen, but he’s been excellent since moving into the rotation. He has a 1.27 ERA in six starts, and in his last start against Toronto, he went seven innings, allowing one earned run and striking out 13!

Kevin Gausman has been the Jays' best pitcher, leading the rotation in ERA, WHIP, and WAR. His fastball is sharp, but his split-finger has been a drop off the table pitch with a 43.1 whiff rate, and that's a reason his strikeout rate is above 30% for the first time in his career.

Pick: Under 7 Runs (-102)
