Cleveland Guardians vs. Chicago White Sox

The Chicago White Sox are throwing in the towel. It’s been a terrible season filled with higher expectations. It just didn’t work out.

The White Sox will pitch Michael Kopech today. Kopech has allowed a .286 ISO and wOBA of .378 over the last month. He’s allowed a .222 ISO and wOBA of .343 throughout the season.

Kopech was striking out a ridiculous rate of batters earlier this year. He’s now earned 16.7% of strikeouts over the last month. He’s fallen off. Meanwhile, the Guardians are getting consistent production from Steven Kwan, Andres Gimenez, Josh Naylor, and Bo Naylor. Jose Ramirez has struggled a bit against righties recently, but he’s another bat that can always do some damage.

Cleveland has limited strikeouts to 22% and only has three batters striking out less than 19.5%. They’ll put the ball in play and make things happen for Aaron Civale.

Civale has held teams to a .083 ISO and wOBA of .220 against his last 89 batters. He won’t get high strikeouts but has kept his walks down throughout the season. He’ll face a White Sox lineup that has hit a .116 ISO and wOBA of .259 against righties over the last month. This team also has six batters striking out 25.4% of the time or more against righties in the previous 30 days.

Let’s take the Guardians here.

Bet: Guardians (-148)

Chicago Cubs vs. St. Louis Cardinals

The Chicago Cubs will send Kyle Hendricks to the mound. He’s a veteran pitcher but has allowed a .231 ISO and wOBA of .356 over his last 30 days.

The Cardinals have a lineup that hadn’t performed much in the first half. But that’s changed recently. The Cardinals have combined to hit a .221 ISO and wOBA of .382 against righties over the last 30 days with their projected lineup. They’ve got seven batters hitting a wOBA of .352 or better against righties.

Meanwhile, Steven Matz will get the call for the Cardinals. He’s struggled against lefties as a left-handed pitcher, but his numbers against righties are dynamite. He’s allowed a .148 ISO and wOBA of .254 to his last 58 righties.

The Cubs will have eight righties in their lineup, and those righties have only hit a .149 ISO with over 27% of strikeouts against lefties over the last month.

Let’s take the Cardinals here.

Bet: Cardinals (-142)
