MLB Best Bets, Picks & Predictions: Tuesday (4/25)

The weather is getting warmer, and we're fully into the MLB season. Let's begin the week by looking at some players that can impact tonight's games.

Today's Best MLB Bets

(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)

San Diego Padres (+108) at Chicago Cubs (-126) | O/U 7.5 (-114/-106)

Not many people would have guessed the Cubs would be the team over .500 coming into this series. However, every part of their game is clicking - they're second in average, fourth in runs scored, and ninth in ERA. Justin Steele has been the star of this rotation, leading with three wins and a 1.44 ERA.

The expectations were high as the Padres spent more money to improve this team. They're playing better at the moment by winning four of their last five, but they are just at .500.

Aside from a recent shutout, the offense has improved and scored 19 runs in the series against Arizona.

The problem has been pitching, which includes Blake Snell. He's been better over his recent two starts but hasn't seen much run support.

The Padres have improved offensively, especially with the return of Fernando Tatis Jr., and with the Cubs overall, expect a lot of offense

Pick: Over 7.5 Runs (-114)

Boston Red Sox (+132) at Baltimore Orioles (-156) | O/U 8.5 (-122/+100)

The Orioles continue their breakout season and come into this matchup having won seven straight. At first, it was because of their lineup, but now the pitching has been stellar, and they have a 0.59 ERA and 10.6 strikeouts per nine over their last five games.

It will be tough putting up that type of pitching dominance against the Red Sox, who are ninth in weighted batting average. They've needed the offense because their pitching is abysmal, and they are 22nd in opponents’ batting average and 26th in ERA.

Kyle Bradish vs. Corey Kluber does not scream pitchers’ duel. Kluber is 0-4, has only allowed fewer than four runs once, and the Orioles roster is hitting a career .290 against him. Bradish has just one start this year (against the Nationals) and the Red Sox roster is hitting a career .310 off of him. Another game where you expect the total to be a little higher, so certainly take that number.

Pick: Over 8.5 (-122)

Los Angeles Dodgers (-132) at Pittsburgh Pirates (-156) | O/U 8.5 (-106/-114)

The Pirates have been one of the season’s surprises, as they hold first place in the NL Central. This has been one of the more offensively disciplined lineups in the league, as they're third in chase percentage, fifth in walks, and 12th in strikeouts.

The Dodgers are a high power/strikeout lineup, but the problem is their pitching staff has a 4.37 ERA.  They're trying to piece together a starting rotation with Walker Buehler and Tony Gonsolin on the IL and Tyler Anderson and Andrew Heaney leaving in free agency.

Noah Syndergaard is back in LA after starting last year with the Angels before being traded to the Phillies. He has three quality starts mixed with a bad one, so his ERA is inflated. The bullpen has relinquished several of his leads, so I'm taking the Dodgers in the first five.

Pick: Dodgers -0.5 First Five Run Line (+108)
