Atlanta Braves (-270) at Detroit Tigers (+220) | O/U 8.5 (+100/-122)

The Braves took an unexpected loss last night after giving up three runs in the ninth and eventually dropped this game in extra innings. They have a great chance to regroup with Spencer Strider on the mound, even though he is coming off the worst start of his career, allowing eight earned runs against the Mets.

What made it even more unlikely was that Detroit had come into that game losing nine straight. The Tigers will respond with Reese Olson, who has pitched well in his first two appearances and allowed three earned in ten total innings.

I just don't think he'll be able to contain an Atlanta lineup that has been on an offensive tear as of late. Strider should have a bounce-back against one of the worse statistical offenses in the league.

Pick: Braves -1.5 (-152)

Pittsburgh Pirates (+120) at Chicago Cubs (-142) | O/U 8.5 (-115/-105)

There have been good and bad moments for the Pirates this season. An excellent start to the season had fans excited, followed by a disastrous May, but have the Bucs have played better in June. One of Pittsburgh's top prospects Luis L. Ortiz gets the start, and it has not been a great year so far. He's allowing more than a hit per inning and is below the tenth percentile in several metrics, including xBA, xSLG, and hard hit percentage.

The Cubs were another unexpected team that had early success by going 14-13 through April 30th, but have gone downhill and are 14-24 since. It's a revenge game for Jameson Taillon, but it’s been a tough year with a 7.02 ERA, 4.67 FIP, and the team is just 1-9 in his starts.

The total is at a very generous line when you look at this pitching matchup, and the over is the best bet for this game.

Pick: Over 8.5 (-115)

Chicago White Sox (+190) at Los Angeles Dodgers (-230) | O/U 8.5 (-115/-105)

The American League Central is a weak division because even at nine games under .500, the White Sox are only 4.5 games out of first. The pitching has been their largest problem, and that goes for Lance Lynn. He's coming into today allowing 13 runs in his last two starts, and there are three other instances where he's allowed over ten earned between two starts.

The Dodgers are in the middle of a rough patch, losing six of their last eight, and they have dropped out of first in the NL West. They have a chance to regroup as they send Tony Gonsolin on the mound, who's been outstanding once again this season, and out of his eight starts, four have gone over five innings where he's allowing one or fewer runs.

Pick: Dodgers -1.5 (-105)
