Q: Whoâs your favorite value to win 2020 AL Pennant?
Tampa Bay Rays (+1000)
While it was tempting to choose the Astros or Twins here, they seem to be accurately priced. The Rays should probably be priced around where the Twins are, and if not for the division, they would be an even bigger favorite than the Twins. The Rays have been able use analytics to boost player performance and player growth which resulted in 96 wins last year. One of the keys to playoff success is strong pitching. The Rays have one of the best bullpens in baseball and have a rotation led by Blake Snell, Charlie Morton, and Tyler Glasnow that can match up well against anyone in a playoff series. At +1000, this is a value.

New York Yankees (+175)
Value stances are always tough propositions. If you are looking for relative longshot dart throws, the Cleveland Indians at +1500, the Chicago White Sox at +1600, and the Los Angeles Angels at +1800 are good values with a puncherâs chance to actually cash. If you are looking for value that will in all likelihood net you a return, the Yankees are the only play. Their season outlook took a hit with Luis Severino being lost for the season to Tommy John surgery, but they are still the favorite to come out of the East. Their lineup remains the best in the American League, and their pitching staff is still one of the deepest in baseball. With that being said, there may be some money pouring in on the Houston Astros with the Severino news, so monitor the odds for about a week before you take the plunge.

Cleveland Indians (+1500)
While the Yankees and Astros are clearly the favorites, the Indians are my No. 3 team in the American League this year. With the return of Carlos Carrasco, they could have a dominant three-headed monster in Clevinger, Bieber, and Carrasco plus they have a ridiculous bullpen led by Brad Hand, James Karinchak, and Emmanuel Clase among several other great pitching pieces. It isnât like their lineup has easy outs either, and with Francisco Lindor and Jose Ramirez leading the way, they should score enough runs to be a serious threat in the American League.
