(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)
Mookie Betts (+350)
Mookie Bettsâ bases-clearing double in the eighth inning served as a finishing touch in Los Angelesâ 9-0 Game 1 victory on Sunday. It was his third extra-base knock of the playoffs, which is more than any other Dodger. Hitting between Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman puts Betts in a great spot because it forces opposing pitchers to face him head-on. The former MVP posted a .321/.407/.547 slash line in addition to eight home runs with at least one runner on base in the regular season. Talk about clutch.
Sean Manaea draws the start for the Mets on Monday. The crafty left-hander has excelled since making a change in his mechanics, but itâs hard to tell if that will be enough to overcome his past struggles at Dodger Stadium. He is 1-3 with a dismal 6.94 ERA and 1.46 WHIP across seven appearances at the storied venue. L.A. has another chance to light up the scoreboard and Bettsâ experience should lead the way. The outfielder is 10-for-32 with three homers, two triples and eight RBI in his career versus Mets starting pitcher Sean Manaea.
Jose Ramirez (+340)
Getting Jose Ramirez out will be one of New Yorkâs toughest tasks in this series. After all, the 32-year-old All-Star has slashed .395/.4480/.716 with nine home runs, six doubles and 19 RBI in 12 games played at Yankee Stadium. Excelling in hostile environments is something Ramirez has done throughout this campaign, too. He finished the regular season with a team-high 19 dingers and 58 RBI on the road. Elite patience at the plate allows Ramirez to work long at-bats as he waits for the perfect pitch.
A matchup against Carlos Rodon skyrockets Ramirezâs chances of going yard. The New York southpaw has been tagged for at least one homer in six of his last seven starts. He also conceded a .942 OPS to opposing batters slated third in the lineup during the regular season. That is the slot Ramirez took in all five of Clevelandâs American League Division Series (ALDS) contests. On top of that, Ramirez has recorded a ridiculous .695 slugging percentage versus lefty hurlers this year. Trust the trends here and back him to clobber a moon shot.
Bettors looking to go big or go home can parlay Betts and Ramirez to both send a ball into the crowd at +1880 odds. Theyâve gone deep on the same day five times in 2024.
