Marcell Ozuna (+350)
Julio Teheran is back in the majors after signing a one-year deal with the New York Mets. The 33-year-old takes the mound on Monday despite posting a 5.91 ERA across 25 appearances since the start of the 2020 season. Thereâs a good chance he gets smacked around, especially since he will take on a Braves lineup that leads the league in batting average (.300) and slugging percentage (.532). Take your pick of any one of Atlantaâs starting pros.
Marcell Ozuna is highlighted here because of the experience he has battling Teheran. Ozuna has logged an impressive slash line of .352/.375/.630 to go along with four home runs and three doubles in 54 career at-bats versus the new Met. Keep in mind six of the two-time All-Starâs 10 hits so far this season have gone for extra bases, too. Ozuna is not wasting contact at the plate. Heâll send one lucky fan home with a souvenir at Truist Park.
Teoscar Hernandez (+370)
The MLB leader in RBI through the first week and a half of action is LAâs Teoscar Hernandez (14). Hitting behind superstars like Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman and Shohei Ohtani allowed the powerful slugger to take advantage of the pitches he is getting. Hernandez has launched four home runs in 12 games and now draws a great matchup against Minnesotaâs Bailey Ober. Ober was punished time and time again in his most recent outing.
The Twins starter lasted only 1 and 1/3 innings against the Kansas City Royals as he gave up eight earned runs on nine hits and one walk. More notably, Ober allowed three home runs and generated a whiff percentage of just 4.3%. No one was fooled by what he brought to the table. Hernandez took Ober deep during the 2021 campaign and knows how to make a pitcher pay for their mistake. Look for him to get a hold of one and cash this bet with a dinger.
Michael Conforto (+600)
Michael Conforto is an enticing option for those looking for a bit more bang for their buck. The San Francisco outfielder rejuvenated his career when he smacked 15 home runs over 125 games in 2023. He looks even more improved in 2024, slashing .351/.415/.703 with three home runs over his first 37 at-bats. Not only that, but Conforto ranks among the top 25 MLB hitters in sweet spot percentage (48.0%). Swings are connecting with ease.
The Giants are facing Washingtonâs Trevor Williams on Monday. Williams gave up the fourth-most home runs in baseball last year (34) and has not fared well against Conforto in the past. Conforto has reached base in six of his 14 plate appearances against the right-hander. That includes when he crushed a changeup 390 feet over the right field fence during a 2019 showdown at Citi Field. A similar shot into McCovey Cove would cash this MLB home run bet with flair.
