After losing the last two games of this four-game series, the Orioles need a big win to split with their division rivals.
Kutter Crawford is on the mound for the Red Sox. Opponents have been hitting him hard lately.
Over his last six starts (29.6 innings), he has allowed 26 runs on 31 hits while giving up 13 dingers.
Of the 27 home runs he has allowed in 2024, 16 have been to left-handed hitters, which sets up nicely for the lefties in this lineup.
Crawford likes to throw 4-5 different pitches when facing lefties, but nearly 60% of the time, he will rely on his fastball and cutter.
Gunnar Henderson has an ISO over .270 against both the fastball and cutter, while Anthony Santander loves to feast off the four-seamer. Thirteen of his 36 home runs have come off opposing pitchers’ fastballs, while he has an ISO of .255.
Jackson Holliday has been living up to the hype since being called up for the second time. Since being called up on July 31, Jackson has been batting .283 with one double, one triple, five triples and an ISO of .300.
Ironically, the two pitches he’s done well against are the fastball and cutter. Combined, he is 10-for-35, batting .285 with two home runs.
Holliday isn’t your traditional power hitter, but if the matchup sets up nicely (as it does today), he is a good enough athlete and hitter to square one up. There is a reason why he was the No. 1 rated prospect heading into this season, and we are finally starting to see it.
We are all in on the Orioles today and look for a big performance from this lineup ranked second in homers (142), second in ISO (.198), second in runs scored (475), second in slugging percentage (.452) and third in wRC+ against right-handed pitchers.
