(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
Fernando Tatis Jr. (+330)
Superstars tend to take over when playoff circumstances are on the line. Fernando Tatis Jr. has done just that for the Padres as they fight for seeding. The All-Star outfielder has slashed .304/.319/.717 with five home runs in his last 11 games. While his 448-foot moon shot in Los Angeles on Wednesday was incredible, it shouldnât be a shock. Tatis has tallied more jacks at Dodger Stadium than any other away ballpark (12).
Up next for Tatis is a matchup against L.A. hurler Walker Buehler. Buehler has registered a disappointing 5.06 ERA and has allowed five homers over four starts in September. Now would be a great time to jump on one of his four-seamers thrown in the strike zone. Tatis has batted .308 with a whopping four dingers in 26 at-bats versus Buehler. Trust him to lean on that experience in a rowdy environment.
Bobby Witt Jr. (+330)
Continuing to target players in meaningful contests is smart. The Royals aim to hold on to an American League Wild Card spot when they visit the Nationals on Thursday. Kansas Cityâs superstar is shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. The 24-year-old phenom has been stellar outside of Kauffman Stadium. He ranks 17th among qualified hitters in away slugging percentage (.513) and owns the team lead with 18 road home runs.
Washington is handing the baseball to Patrick Corbin - a clear boost for Witt. The veteran southpaw has recorded the worst WHIP in the sport (1.51) as he gives up baserunners left and right. Corbin has also surrendered a long ball in six of his last 10 starts. Witt logged a single, double and homer in three trips to the plate in his only career game against Corbin. Expect another offensive outburst.
Brent Rooker (+340)
The Athletics will play their final contest at the storied Oakland Coliseum on Thursday afternoon. Those in attendance and on the field would be hyped to end it with a bang. Brent Rooker has been the squadâs go-to producer at home, posting a .280/.361/.514 slash line with 15 home runs. The first basemanâs .295/.366/.557 slash line and 28 homers versus right-handed pitching are also the best marks among Aâs batters.
Rooker is in a good spot considering he is set to battle a rookie righty and a group of underperforming relievers. Texasâ Kumar Rocker has only seven MLB innings under his belt and is backed up by a bullpen unit that has conceded the fourth-most blasts this campaign (81). To dive a bit deeper, the Rangersâ pitching staff has been tagged for the fourth-highest hard-hit percentage overall (40.3%). Rely on Rooker to crush one.
