(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)
Tyler Stephenson (+400)
While the Reds are about league average when facing an opposing left-handed pitcher, Tyler Stephenson has been one of the better guys in the lineup. He leads the team in ISO (.246) and home runs (eight) against lefties.
Lefty Joey Cantillo is on the mound for the Guardians. While he hasnât given up a home run in four straight starts, he has a 1.54 HR/9, the fourth-highest among todayâs starters. Cantillo loves to rely heavily on his fastball - there is no one better in this Reds lineup to capitalize on a misplaced fastball than Tyler Stephenson.
Stephensonâs .301 ISO against the four-seam fastball is the highest among his teammates.
Ketel Marte (+440) & Eugenio Suarez (+560)
The Diamondbacks are still in the thick of the National League playoff race. They currently sit in the last Wild Card spot, only half a game ahead of the Atlanta Braves.
Today, they have a favorable matchup against Giants rookie Mason Black.
Last week, Black made the seventh start of his career. It was the first time he did not give up a home run. Black's HR/9 is 1.87, the highest among today's starting pitchers.
This is good news for a slumping Diamondbacks lineup, as they have annihilated right-handed pitching over the last month. As a team, they have hit 23 homers (third-most) against righties since the start of September. Leading the way are Eugenio Suarez and Ketel Marte.
Last week, we cashed in on Marte on back-to-back days. We are returning to the well today.
Since September 1, Suarez has hit .322 with an ISO of .254 and five dingers against righties, while Marte has been hitting .290 with an ISO of .419 and four home runs.
If the Diamondbacks have any success offensively, these two should be in the middle of it.
