MLB No Runs First Inning (NRFI) Odds, Picks & Predictions: Monday (7/24)

We have ten games on the board today with the first game being played starting at 1:10 ET. At the time of this article writing, that game does not have a NRFI line posted on DraftKings, potentially due to the fact that the Giants do not seem to have a starter announced. Make sure to check back in a few hours if you want to bet on that game.

Monday’s Best No Runs First Inning Bets

Baltimore Orioles at Philadelphia Phillies – 6:40 ET

Looking over the board, this game being at plus money is something that stood out to me a bit. This is likely due to the pitching matchup and the lack of respect both Dean Kremer and Cristopher Sanchez get combined with Citizen’s Bank Ballpark. Sanchez has started to give up a few long balls, but for the most part, he has been a pitch-to-contact guy who has seen some success so far. He has allowed a 0.282 wOBA the first time through the order, and despite the tough home park should have no issues keeping his side of the frame clean. Kremer has shown that he has massive blow-up potential with games of five and seven earned runs in his last four starts, but he has mixed those with pure dominance. Home runs remain his issue, and he has struggled the first time through the order with a wOBA over 0.350, but I believe that this will be a “good Kremer” game, and he will be able to get back into the positive column. There is swing and miss in the Phillies lineup, and he can take advantage today.

Pick: +110

Pittsburgh Pirates at San Diego Padres 9:40 ET

Yu Darvish’s full season hasn’t gone as planned, but his last two starts have looked like vintage Yu. He looks to keep it rolling against the Pirates, who have the fourth-worst team level wRC+ in the last month. The Pirates’ offense has been in free fall, and Darvish, despite his season-long struggles, should have no issue dispatching them. Quinn Priester gets the ball for his second MLB start, and hopefully, this one goes a bit better than the first. The K numbers won’t be elite, but he posts strong GB rates, which should allow him to limit the long ball. His first start was excellent before the wheels fell off, and he ended up with a double-digit ERA. I like betting on highly rated prospects early in their careers before teams have too much video/data to really pre-scout these guys at the MLB level. Hopefully, this game gets off to the same start as his first one, and he keeps a few clean innings to open the game.

Pick: -105
