Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Arizona Diamondbacks
Lance Lynn vs. Brandon Pfaadt
Who would have ever thought the Diamondbacks would be one win away from the NLCS and on the verge of completing a 3-game sweep of the Dodgers?
Well, here we are; the Arizona is one game away from completing the 3-game sweep and advancing to the NLCS.
The Dodgers will turn to the veteran Lance Lynn in hopes of extending their season just a bit longer. Lynn has 24 postseason appearances in his career, but the results have not been great.
Over those 24 games, Lynn is 5-5 with a 6.51 ERA.
His last three appearances came in 2018 and 2021 as a member of the New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox. In those three games, Lynn’s ERA is 12.00.
Rookie Brandon Pfaadt is on the mound for Arizona. During the regular season, Pfaadt struggled, which continued into the playoffs. Pfaadt made his playoff debut in the N.L. Wild Card against the Milwaukee Brewers. In game one, the rookie’s debut didn’t last as long as he hoped, giving up three runs on seven hits in 2.2 innings.
Based on his track record in the regular season, I don’t see this outing being much better.
In two games against the Dodgers, he gave up 14 hits and 9 runs, including 2 home runs in 8.2 innings.
With their backs against the wall, I’d expect the Dodgers offense to come to life early and often. Let’s see if veteran guys like Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman get this offense going early and score a few runs in the first inning.
On the flip side, the Snakes’ offense has been red hot. They outscored the Brewers 11 to 5 in the Wild Card round and have outscored the Dodgers 15 to 4 thus far. I wouldn’t be shocked if we saw a few runs from both teams in the first inning.
