Four Game 2’s are on the slate Wednesday beginning at 3pm today. Let’s look at the best bet to throw up a scoreless first frame!

Wednesday’s Best MLB No Runs First Inning (NRFI) Bets

Arizona Diamondback vs. Milwaukee Brewers
Pitching Matchup: Zac Gallen vs. Freddy Peralta

Zac Gallen makes his long-awaited playoff debut tonight. After six years in the big leagues, Gallen will be making his first career postseason start. Luckily for him, it’s against a team he has dominated in the regular season. In two games against the Brewers this season, Gallen pitched 14 innings, giving up one run while striking out 15. Zac Gallen is one of the favorites to win this year’s NL Cy Young Award, as he should be. He is 17-9 with a 3.47 ERA and 220 strikeouts. However, the one flaw with Mr. Gallen is his road splits are a bit concerning. In 18 starts, he is 5-6 with a 4.42 ERA. It seems he loses focus as his command becomes a bit off. In nearly the same amount of innings pitched at home and on the road, he has allowed eight more home runs and 10 more walks.

With this being such a big game and a possible series clincher, I think Zac Gallen will step up to the challenge and deliver another dominant performance.

On the other side, the Brewers will look to Freddy Peralta to even up their series and extend their season for at least one more game. Peralta will be making his second career postseason start. His first coming back in 2021 against the Atlanta Braves. In that start, he went four innings, giving up three hits, no runs, and striking out five, ultimately getting a no-decision. In 2023, Freddy is 12-10 with a 3.86 ERA and 210 strikeouts. Throughout the season, he has done really well pitching at home. His ERA drops from 4.34 on the road to 3.44 at home, while opponents are beating a measly .182.

Look for both offenses to struggle early on and cash in on the NRFI.
