Sunday’s Best MLB Bets

(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

Seattle Mariners vs. San Francisco Giants

The Seattle Mariners are set to start Bryan Woo. He was terrific against righties to begin the year. Yet, he allowed a .500 ISO and wOBA of .451 to nine lefties. Ultimately, this wasn’t an issue last year. Instead, Woo held 472 batters to a .126 ISO and wOBA of .253 and was very good against lefties, minus a lower strikeout rate.

He’ll battle a Giants offense that should have four lefties in the lineup. Those four lefties have combined to hit just a .140 ISO against righties since last season. Plus, the Giants’ projected lineup has struck out 22.6% of the time against righties since last season.

Meanwhile, Woo will battle San Francisco pitcher Jordan Hicks. Hicks faced 21 batters in his first start and held them to a .000 ISO and wOBA of .108 with nearly 54% of ground balls and 28.6% of strikeouts. Hicks was a bit wild against lefties last season, but didn’t walk any of the three he faced to begin this year.

He’ll take on a Mariners projected lineup that has struck out nearly 26% of the time against righties since last year. Only two batters in the Mariners’ lineup have struck out below 20% of the time against righties since last season. Hicks should be able to rack up many strikeouts.

Let’s back the under in this game.

Pick: Under 7.5 Runs (-115)

Cleveland Guardians vs. Los Angeles Angels

The Los Angeles Angels don’t have many lefties in their projected starting lineup, despite going up against Luis L. Ortiz, who allowed just a .105 ISO and wOBA of .279 to 293 righties last season. This year, he’s held his first 11 righties to a .000 ISO and earned 66.7% of ground balls.

Meanwhile, the Angels’ projected lineup has seven righties in it. Those seven righties have combined to hit a .167 ISO and woBA of .326 with over 24% of strikeouts. That’s even with Mike Trout in the lineup. Angels bats could be weak against Ortiz today.

Meanwhile, Tyler Anderson will get the call for the Angels. The veteran lefty allowed a .350 ISO and wOBA of .433 against his first 22 batters this season. He also allowed 43.8% of fly balls and 43.8% of hard contact against those 22 batters.

Since last season, the Guardians’ projected lineup has hit a .195 ISO and wOBA of .342 against lefties. This lineup has way more potential, so let’s back the Guardians.

Pick: Guardians Moneyline (-116)
