Detroit Tigers vs. Cincinnati Reds

The Detroit Tigers will send out ace pitcher Tarik Skubal. He’s a left-handed pitcher who has earned over 26% of strikeouts over the last 30 days. He’s also held walks to 5.6% then and has limited opponents to a .309 wOBA.

Skubal will take on a Reds projected lineup that has struck out 23% of the time against lefties over the last month. Ultimately, the lineup has six batters who have struck out at least 23.1% of the time against lefties, With so many strikeout targets, Skubal should throw a quality start with little damage.

Meanwhile, the Reds will roll with Graham Ashcraft. Ashcraft has only earned 12.5% of strikeouts over the past 30 days. He’s also allowed a .178 ISO and wOBA of .350. The Tigers don’t have the most encouraging lineup, either. However, Colt Keith and Riley Greene have hit a high ISO and wOBA over the last 30 days against righties. Parker Meadows has also returned to the lineup and has looked good against righties since.

Let’s back the Tigers on the road at -146.

Pick: Tigers (-146)

Oakland Athletics vs. Baltimore Orioles

The Baltimore Orioles’ projected lineup has hit a .233 ISO and wOBA of .367 against righties over the last month. Only Ryan Mountcastle and Ramon Urias have struggled to hit for power. The other seven batters have destroyed right-handed pitching.

Baltimore will face Oakland’s Mitch Spence, a righty who has earned 19.5% of strikeouts over the last 30 days. Spence has also allowed a .172 ISO and wOBA of .341, with nearly 27% of line drives allowed.

The Orioles’ projected lineup has hit 26.1% of line drives over the last 30 days against righties and has hit a combined 52% hard contact rate against righties.

On the flip side, Grayson Rodriguez will head to the mound for the Orioles. Rodriguez hasn’t earned a high rate of strikeouts against righties, but he’s still earned 23.1% of strikeouts against righties this season.

He’ll attack an Athletics lineup that has struck out 28.3% of the time against righties in the same time period. The lineup will likely have six righties, but those righties have struck out 30.6% of the time. You’d have to figure Rodriguez finally starts to add a high rate of strikeouts against righties today.

Additionally, the projected lineup for Oakland has only hit a .279 wOBA over the last 30 days against righties. Baltimore’s lineup is way better than Oakland’s. Let’s take the Orioles at -1.5.

Pick: Orioles -1.5 (-111)
