It was an exciting first weekend of the 2025 MLB season. Many teams dominated with sweeps, and we saw a ton of offense, something we rarely see this early in the season. Let's hope it continues. We break down a couple of games below and give you our best bets.

(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
Arizona Diamondbacks (-118) at New York Yankees (-102) | O/U 8.0 (-118/-102)
The Yankees torpedoed their way through a sweep over the weekend. They blasted 15 home runs and scored 36 runs, and all people could talk about was their bats. Aaron Judge started the MVP campaign with a three-home run performance and four total on the weekend.
Will Warren was a late-season call-up last year, and it was a brutal run with a 10.32 ERA. The team was 1-4, with Warren going 0-3 in decisions.
The Diamondbacks split the weekend with the Cubs, and their bats were also alive. They are second behind the Yankees in batting average (.333) at .329 and lead the league in hits (46). They now head to hitter-friendly Yankee Stadium.
Corbin Burnes is familiar with the Yankees, as he played for their rivals, the Orioles, last season. Collectively, the Yankees are hitting just .210 off Burnes, with a 32.1% strikeout rate.
Torpedo bats or not, even against Burnes, whom they've struggled against, they could remain hot. The Diamondbacks could also continue hitting well against a pitcher who hasn't proved himself yet.
Pick: Over 8.0 Runs (-118)
Atlanta Braves (+110) at Los Angeles Dodgers (-130) | O/U 7.5 (-112/-108)
The Dodgers have won six straight and took the first game of this series 6-1. The defending champs got even better in the offseason, and we’re seeing it pay off early on. The lineup has an abundance of power, as they are sixth in slugging percentage (.505) and second in home runs (14), this without World Series MVP Freddie Freeman.
This is a special day for Dustin May that has been two years in the making. He has not pitched in the regular season since May 2023 due to injuries and a life-threatening incident; May was recovering from Tommy John surgery last year when, at dinner, he tore his esophagus, an injury that, if not treated, could have resulted in his death.
It's been a brutal start for the Braves, as they are the league’s first 0-5 team. There are a lot of great bats in this lineup, but they are all ice-cold at the moment, scoring just one run in the last three games. They’ve gone scoreless in a total of 29 innings. The Braves could be in for a rough time until they get their best players back; former MVP Ronald Acuna Jr. has no timetable for his return, and Spencer Strider will be making rehab starts soon.
They still have their ace and reigning CY Young winner Chris Sale, though. He was solid in his last start, allowing three earned runs in five innings before leaving with the lead, which the bullpen blew.
Pick: Dodgers Moneyline (-130)
