MLB Player Prop Bet Odds, Picks & Predictions: Friday (4/21)

We’ve got a full slate of games today in the MLB. The Cubs-Dodgers will even start in the daytime to give us a little early enjoyment this Friday.

Hopefully, that sets the tone for a great weekend of MLB action.

I’ve added multiple player props for tonight’s slate of games. Let me know if you’re rocking with me!

Bet: Josh Jung Over 1.5 Total Bases (-115

The Oakland Athletics will send out JP Sears for tonight’s game against the Rangers. He’s a young left-handed pitcher who has allowed an ISO of .409 to 46 righties this season.

On the other hand, Josh Jung of the Rangers is a right-handed batter hitting a .333 ISO and wOBA of .480 against lefties to begin the year.

Texas’ offense hasn’t been very good against lefties. But Jung is the one consistent bat, hitting for extra bases. Even if he isn’t able to come through against Sears, he’ll get a plate appearance or two against some really bad relievers.

Freddy Peralta Over 5.5 Ks (-134)

Freddy Peralta has struck out 26% of batters to begin the year. He’s allowed no extra-base hits against righties, although he’s been up-and-down against lefties. Still, he’s taking on a Red Sox lineup with a .141 ISO and wOBA of .281 against righties using the projected lineup.

The top of the lineup between Alex Verdugo, Rafael Devers, Justin Turner, and Masataka Yoshida rarely strikes out. But the bottom five batters strike out at a ridiculous rate. All bottom five batters have struck out at least 27.8% of the time against righties.

Look for Peralta to take advantage of those batters and earn high strikeouts against the Red Sox.

Zac Gallen Over 5.5 Ks (-158)

Zac Gallen will take the hill against those mighty San Diego Padres. I say mighty because Fernando Tatis is back in the lineup for the Padres.

He couldn’t get on base in his first game back and typically strikes out at a high rate.

The rest of the team has struck out over 26% of the time combined. The Padres have five batters striking out at least 25.5% of the time against righties and another batter that has struck out 23.4% against righties.

Meanwhile, Gallen has struck out 28% of batters this season and has an xFIP of 3.19. He figures to stay in this game long and should keep the Padres in check.

Take Over on his strikeout prop.
