MLB Player Prop Bet Odds, Picks & Predictions: Friday (7/21)

We’ve got a 15-game slate with plenty of exciting matchups.

I’ve added three player props that I’ll be attacking with tonight’s slate of games. Let’s get right to it!

Friday’s Best MLB Player Props

(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)

Joey Meneses Over 1.5 Total Bases (-105)

The Washington Nationals will take on Alex Wood of the San Francisco Giants tonight. Wood is a left-handed pitcher who hasn’t looked good against righties throughout the season. In the last month, Wood has allowed a .275 ISO and wOBA of .386 to his previous 47 righties.

Meanwhile, Joey Meneses is hitting a .467 ISO and wOBA of .496 against his last 16 lefties faced. He’s struck out at a high rate, but Wood has only struck out 17% of righties in the previous month. Meneses has hit a 60% hard-hit rate and has a barrel percentage of 10% against lefties in the last month.

One extra-base hit is all we need.

Anthony Volpe Over 0.5 Hits (-180)

Alec Marsh will take the hill for the Royals tonight. He’s got high strikeouts against lefties but has only struck out right-handed batters 21.1% of the time. Marsh has also allowed a .444 ISO and wOBA of .436 to his last 19 right-handed batters.

Marsh has given up a 42.9% fly ball rate and earned a 14.3% ground ball rate against righties in the last month.

He’ll take on a Yankees lineup that has struggled offensively. However, Anthony Volpe is one of the few bright spots. He’s hit a .217 ISO and wOBA of .349 against his last 50 right-handed pitchers. Volpe has limited ground balls and continues to hit a high hard contact rate against righties.

Volpe’s got the speed to leg out an infield hit and has the power to hit one onto the grass or in the seats.

Tommy Henry Under 4.5 Ks (-108)

Tommy Henry will take the hill for the Diamondbacks tonight. Henry is a left-handed pitcher who rarely earns strikeouts against right-handed batters.

Typically teams will stack righties in their lineups against Henry, and the Reds won’t be any different.

The Reds should have just one lefty in their lineup tonight. Henry has struck out 36.8% of lefties over the last month but only 15.1% of righties. He’s been consistent with righties too. He’s struck them out just 16.8% of the time this year.

I know Cincinnati has struck out 26.9% of the time against lefties over the last month. But that’s also why Henry’s strikeout line is a bit higher.

The Reds will flail at a bunch of pitches. But Henry isn’t earning a high whiff percentage or strikeout percentage in the last 30 days against righties. He doesn’t have a consistent putaway pitch against righties. So let’s take Henry to go Under 4.5 Ks in tonight’s game against the Reds.
