(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
Logan Gilbert Over 7.5 Strikeouts (+115)
After an incredible 2022 season that resulted in the Mariners making the playoffs for the first time in 21 years, this season has been a disappointment. They have been hovering around .500 for most of the year and have a few teams to climb over to get into the playoffs.
Logan Gilbert is continuing off the success from last season, and a lot of metrics have significantly improved - He went from a chase rate in the 12th percentile in 2022 to 81st this year and a strikeout rate from the 49th to 61st. Look for him to rack up the strikeouts as he faces the Twins, who have struck out the most this season. He already has a solid history against them, with a 36.4% strikeout rate in 44 lifetime at-bats.
Cody Bellinger OVER 1.5 Hits/Runs/RBI (-115)
After his 2019 MVP season, the rest of the time in Los Angeles did not go as well for Cody Bellinger, hitting just .203 in the final three seasons. He got a fresh start with the Cubs and has taken advantage by batting .301 with a .882 OPS.
With the trade deadline just a couple of weeks away and Chicago six games below .500, Bellinger will be a prime target for a playoff-competing team to grab. He's been on a stellar run lately, hitting .424, and has a hit in 16 of his 18 games.
Corey Seager OVER 1.5 Total Bases (+120)
The Rangers gave Corey Seager a large contract in 2022, and while his first season in Texas wasn't the best, he's been worth every penny this year. This season he leads the American League in batting average is second in the league in OPS, and fifth in offensive WAR. He has helped the Rangers become competitive as they lead the AL West.
He gets a tough assignment in Shane McClanahan, but Seager has had some success in their brief history, going 2-for-4 lifetime.
